  • Is VEP 6 compatible with FL Studio?

I asked about this about a year ago as well but have still not been able to get this to work. I've tried running it both on the same computer as well as from a slave PC. I can find VEP and connect to the instance, but the sound is just distortion.

  • Hi McArnes,

It should work fine. What are your network settings? Could it be that you are connecting over WIFI?

Or is this a local instance of the VE PRO Server (same machine)? Which OS?

  • Hi Paul,

I've tried both local instance on the same machine (WIN10) and over an Ethernet network. It works well with Logic Pro and Cubase, but have not worked with FL Studio 12 or 20 (the latest version).

The sound is nothing but distortion.

  • Hi McArnes,

I'm afraid I cannot test this so quickly... did you contact my colleagues at Image-Line yet?

We'll be happy to assist with any licenses needed for testing. So far, this is the first report.

  • I did ask in their forum but no reply yet. I've asked before as well but it seems like they don't know what the issue is.

  • It's a miracle: By setting the buffer to "none" in the VEP 6 VST inside FL Studio the sound is fine!

  • Hi McArnes,

Thanks for the update, miracles are great!

  • Hi Paul, As mentioned I managed to get things to work without a distorted sound by choosing “0 buffers” in the VEP inserts. However, it turns out this creates huge CPU issues as the CPU usage increases drastically. So is there a way to keep it at 2 buffers without the distorted sound on every instrument? I could have tried to have just one instance of VEP with 40 ports and 100+ outputs but it doesn’t seem like FL Studio support more than 1 port and 32 outputs for each instance. So at the moment I’m stuck and can’t use VEP with FL Studio after all. I doubt I could get processor that can handle 20 instances with 0 buffers.

  • Hello McArnes,

Did you also contact FL Studio about this yet? What do my colleagues say?
They have VE PRO to test.

    Paul

I have asked and waiting for their reply. I can use 2 buffers without problems in Logic and Studio One, so it shouldn't be my computer or ethernet connection.

  • Hi,

Yes, this points to latency handling in FL Studio...
