  • Does MIR Pro get me everything in MIRX (and does it work in VI?)

I'm interested in MIR / MIRX to get a basic orchestral mix set up quickly. I'm using VI right now, might upgrade to VI Pro at some point, but for the moment I'm avoiding VE Pro.

First question: Can MIR Pro be used with VI / VI Pro? Or is it MIRX = VI and MIR Pro = VE?

Since it seems MIR Pro can be used as a plugin, I have some other questions:

    1. Does MIR Pro have any use immediately after being purchased? Or do you have to buy one of the MIR room packs for it to be of any use?

    2. Does buying MIR Pro provide me with any MIRX presets? This is the main thing I'm interested in – I'd like to use the MIRX presets in VI to set instrument profiles and build a quick mix.

So, does MIR Pro enable the MIRX functionality in VI? Or would it only be useful to me as a plugin outside of VI? And in either case, does it provide me with any MIRX presets out of the box or do I have to buy a MIR room pack?

Okay thanks for that. I've read a ton of forum posts and documentation up to this point, and I'm still not quite clear which is why I'm asking here.

So, let's say that I want to load up Vienna Instruments and press the MIRx button on there – can I do that if I've installed MIR Pro? Or does the Vienna Instruments MIRx button only work with the MIRx products?

Also, if I want to use MIRx mode in MIR Pro, is it correct that I need VEP + MIR Pro + at least one RoomPack?

You don't need VE or VE Pro, MIR Pro will run as plug-in in any modern DAW which is able to host VST-, AU- or AAX-plug-ins. But the MIRx mode will lose a bit of its ease-of-use like due to the fact that MIR can't communicate with the instrument that it should process; that's only possible in VE/VE Pro with VI/VI Pro, where all components "know" about each other.

Mind you: Soundwise, the results will be identical! It's really only about some automatic settings you will have to adjust manually otherwise.

    Kind regards,

  • Thanks, I’ll try the demos :)

  • Hi

I wondered a thing...i own MIR Pro 24 with a roompack. Does the mir x version for VIP comes with it? so i can use it with the mirx button in VIP?

    Thanks for your reply

  • In short: No, sorry to say so.

... but MIR Pro will be able to give you all the functionality in MIRx Mode (and then some). :-)
