Hopefully Synchron Strings 1 with the new Synchron Strings 1 Player will be out this month (May) ! With no more delays.
Synchron Strings I made s lot of money for VSL, but instead of looking after the early adopters they brought out two new products with Synchron Player, while leaving us waiting. We’ve already paid so they make us wait and tempt new customers with products that have the Synchron Player. Given how bad the legato is, and after half a year of waiting, all early adopters should be refunded. We were not given the product we paid for, and even if you release it tomorrow, legato was not reinvented, but taken back a decade or so. Really enjoying my HZ-strings this week. Spitfire are hit and miss, but these days, they totally outclass VSL.

I wish I could disagree, but I can't. I'd like a refund of Synchron Strings, too.

  • Hi,

On the other hand: Why not wait a few more days and see?

Because you've said many times the Synchron Player won't change the Legatos or improve that aspect of Synhcron Strings. If that's the case, why wait for a bad product?

We have a product that doens't sound great, it isn't 'legato reinvented' and is six months or more late. It's a bad product that very few people would have bought if they'd been able to fully demo it in the real world, but instead we bought it with the promise of 'soon'. This is not soon, and it sounds bad anyway. I really want a refund.

I totally disagree. The Synchron Strings are a fantastic library with cutting edge samples. They are not a "bad product." I have been auditioning the sounds of the VI version and they are great, with a huge amount of variation and detail. I am extremely excited to use the library in both the VI version and with the new Player.

Ok. I respect your opinion. We’ll put aside that we bankrolled a project that released two other products before dealing with Strings I (almost as an afterthought). If I’m wrong, and I really hope I am, can you point me to any examples of the legato sounding good? To me, Legato Blur should be renamed Legato Hide, as it’s just hiding the poor legato. So I want to hear realistic legato that makes this a revoltionary product. By chance, I was at a live concert last night, very close to the stage, and paid close attention to the real legato (esp of the cellos as I was close to them). It was beautiful, but I don’t hear anything like that in Synchron. Please show me I’m wrong and then I’ll assume I’m just using it incorrectly. I’ll still be annoyed at the way early adopters were treated (waiting while two other Synchron products were perfected) but I’m willing to open my mind and ears.

Well this is just playing around with the instruments in VI, no processing. I need to update my youtube and get some more stuff on there! I used to have more...

Thanks. With no disrepect at all to what you're doing, this sounds like the problem I have with these strings - I feel like I have to pause all the time, and make space, because actually playing the notes close together doesn't create the legto I'm looking for.

You know what Paul, I put in a request for a refund, but I hope they ignore it. I don't like Synchron Strings much so far, and I don't believe the player will help Legato much, but I enjoyed the gamble of signing up to something new, so I'll live with that. And you never know, you might surprise me. If so, I'll shout it from the roofttops. If not, I'll keep quiet and let everybody else make up their own mind. (I just really wished you'd held back the two new Synchron products and finished Synchron Strings I first, because it felt like a kick in the teeth to leave us waiting. But I'll let it go now.)

Synchron Strings I made s lot of money for VSL,

Somebody contact the FBI, Interpol and Scotland Yard!  Spoilsman has hacked into the financial records of VSL and he's spilling them all over Internet forums.  You Rascal😤

How do you know how much money VSL made from Synchron Strings I?  And if they did make a lot of money from Synchron Strings wouldn't that be a testament to just how supperior the product is?  What is it you don't like about the legatos that everybody else does?

Please excuse my bellicosity but I'm really getting irritated with people bitching and moaning about when the Synchron Player is coming out.  Since the developers can't say it themselves, I'll say it for them. "The damn player will be released when it gets released. There!"

But part of this is VSL's fault if I may be so bold.  I wouldn't have made any announcement until the day the product was released.  Surprise everybody.  When you announce a future product as big as this you fill everybody up with anticipation.  It's like dangling Skittles candies in front of a bunch of hypoglycemic five-year-olds.  When's it coming out!  When's it coming out!  That project was due yesterday!  Get a hold of yourselves.

Maybe I'm just more fortunate than others but I take my sweet time before buying any software product even if it is VSL.  I do research, I carefully listen to demos and I wait about six months so they can hammer out all the inevitable bugs.  I know some VSL die hards would buy anything VSL puts out even if it were a chimp banging on a whoppy cushion with a bannana.  All the power to them.  On the other hand, everything I've bought from VSL has been top notch professional gear worth every penny.  But if the player were to be released tommorow it would still be a while before I'd even consider it.

I'm beginning to understand you William more and more everyday I visit the forum and as I consider myself to be a mild mannered person that's a bit frightening.

Well that's good for you, but unfortunately, this sounds as if you weren't really doing anything other than mocking an already rightfully aggravated customer base.

It's nice that you're superiorly patient and way smarter with your economics than these fools who bought a product they still haven't received in full 7 months later. And while I'm not neccessarily a fan of how some of these people express their frustration, I may remind you that it's not just a case of five-year olds and dangling Skittles, but they paid money for this stuff.

Well, that's not true. First, we didn't pay anything for the Synchron Player. And second, Synchron Strings I are complete and work perfectly within VI/VI Pro.

SyS has been advertised as coming with a great new revolutionary player since day one. It's part of the deal. VI Pro is further not equipped for hosting the library. It's possible, but sub-standard and not feasible. Which is why the Synchron Player was announced and developed in the first place.

It's absolutely silly to have to debate this nonsensical point on top of all the nuisance.

Uhm, nope, Synchron Player is an essential part of Synchron Strings I. Delivery of the player was promised at introduction. Claims to the contrary are sheer lunacy.

  • sorry kids, your are simply impatient.

We are used to get solid products from VSL, thanks god, they have obviously a priority to keep it like that.

I didn't say that the Synchron Player wasn't promised. I just said that we didn't pay anything for it and that Synchron Strings I were complete. And we can use them with VI/VI Pro while waiting for the new player. Guy Bacos composed nine demos for SyS with VI Pro so it's perfectly feasible.

  • Calm down everybody the Synchronplayer is already released and everybody who owns FX Strings does already work with. And Synchronstrings are completly released and usable with VI, and I am sure the time left to wait for the Synchronstring-Version in Synchron-Playerformat is not that long that it realy would need any discussion about.

Yeah, obviously, waiting for something for over a half a year is a sign of incredible inpatience.

Why don't you start acting your age by refraining from trolling forums like kids do.
