  • Pernegg Monastery

I obtained the Pernegg Monastery Mystic Spaces MIR reverb and love it!  It is now my all time favorite reverb.  However I wonder if I am overdoing it because of that!  This "Star Harbor" is a somewhat "mystic" piece so I remixed it with the new MIR.  The overall dry/wet ratio is only -11.5 down from default 50/50 and other settings are default.

  • thanks muziksculp,

It is nice to hear from you.  The reason I posted this is I am not sure I am hearing it right, as I  get enthusiastic about reverbs and tend to use too much.   This new MIR is so great I may have gone overboard !

    Hi William,

imho. you applied a very tasteful amount of MIR in this demo, I know it is easy to get carried away, and apply too much Reverb, but this is not the case here.

The Pernegg Monastery added a very majestic, and warm character to the instruments, and nothing pops out in the arrangement as being odd, or exaggerated, it sounds very natural, everything blends nicely, and the compositions is very soothing to my ears   😃🎵

    Cheers,

  • "Star Harbor" sounds wonderful, and it is a marvelous composition. I recently watched a video comparing various reverbs, Altiverb, TC-6000, Lexicon, and others. I think the reverb setup you found is very similar, to my ears, to the TC-6000 which is a $16,000 hardware reverb. It is a very lovely sound. I will have to give it a try.

  • Thanks very much Paul and Muziksculp, I appreciate your input on this!

    Hi William,

    You are very welcome.

    Q.  Are you using MIR-Pro in VE-Pro 6 in this track, or directly in your DAW ?

    Thanks,

    Muziksculp

  • I used Mir Pro as a plugin in VE Pro 5  on a slave.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • Hi William,

This is a very nice composition. It reminds me somehow of Mahler's 5th (Adagietto), not the notes or the themes, but the atmosphere and orchestration. You did a terrific job here. The music flows smoothly on and is never boring. The soundscape is full of small 'surprises' and variety and opens one's fantasy to get into that dreamy world of beauty and peace. Interesting acoustic environment too.

    In one word: great!

    Max

  • Thanks a lot Max!
