  • Special Edition Vol 1 is Ok with CUBASE Element 8 ?

Hi , sorry if my question could appare too simple...

I'm planning to buy VSL Special Edition vol 1 but i need to be shure that it will work correctly with my Cubase Element 8.

Anyone is already using it in this way? I want to use the VSL special edition vol1 but I dont't want to loose what I  already did.

    Any help is appreciated!

Hard to believe no one's answered this, so I'll give it a try. I run the full Cubase, not Elements, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to run the Special Edition on Elements. The limitation wouldn't be so much on whether you can run it all, it would be how many tracks and VST instances you can run. Here is a comparison chart by Steinberg on the various Cubase versions. Pay close attention to the first section marked "General," and you will see these limitations.

I hope someone who actually runs Elements can speak on this for certain. My remarks are intended only as suggestive. You might also try posting this question on the Cubase forum.

  • When I was starting out, I had Cubase Elements and VSL SE1. It works just fine.

The limitations aren't very significant. Instrument and MIDI tracks combined will provide you with enough tracks for the time being. Once you start adding more libraries and instruments and building a larger template, an upgrade to Cubase Artist/Pro will be due.

The thing I would miss the most are the Expression Maps, but some people don't use those anyway.

  • Elements is very good, and contains all the essentials of Cubase, so everything will be fine. You will have access to the full functionality of your VSL library.

You mention not wanting to lose the work you've already done. If you have a project that was saved in Cubase Pro or Artist, you can still open the file in Elements, even if it has features that are not supported in Elements. If you are importing your old work from a different DAW as MIDI files, you still need to be below the 64 track limit.

I hope you enjoy your time as a Cubase and VSL user :)
