  • Deleting SE instruments after buying the full instruments?

I need to know whether I can remove the Special Edition instruments from my hard drive after buying the full instrument libraries.

Initially I had the Special Ed. full bundle, then I bought the Woodwinds full bundle. Are the Special Ed. instruments duplicates now and can I delete it from my orchestra without loosing anything?

  • The libraries are independent of each other so delete whatever you want.

  • Hello,

    Sorry for answering late.

The libraries are independent, that´s correct, but quite some articulations in the Special Editions have a specific name (as they were mapped in whole-tones), so they are not identical with the articulations in the bigger collections (and thus also don´t sound exactly the same).

So if you still want to open older arrangements that were made with the Special Editions, you will still want the Special Edition Sample Content available.

    Best,

  • Thank you for your kind replies, folks!

I think I've seen five special ed. woodwinds folders, which is around 30 Gb of data, that I can release this way.  I would normally leave it there, but I'm getting ready for the Dimension Strings I, which requires a serious amount of space.

And of course, I will remember that I have to replace the special ed. instruments with the full version ones into the old projects.

Thank you and have a creative weekend!

  • Hello!

Following on this same subject, I have recently added the full Appassionata Strings I and II to my library as well as having the Special Edition Volume 3 with these instruments.  I have plenty of disk space for these libraries, so I intend on leaving all the SE libraries installed.  But I was wondering if there was anything unique in the SE Volume 2 Appassionata Bonus and Bonus-Plus that is worth keeping.  This seems to be redundant with the other three libraries.

    Thank you,

    Scott

  • Other than what Paul mentioned above about the SE libraries in general I don't think there is anything unique about the SE App. Strings

However, the SE libraries are not as memory hungry as the larger collections so if you're in a pinch and you need to slap something together quickly (a quick sketch or mock up) where you need the App Strings in a project then the SE would be ideal.
