  • [SOLVED] Installation Error on Vienna Special Edition

I initially installed Vienna Special Edition and Vienna Special Edition Plus on a Vista Business- based PC in
February 2009, utilizing the syncrosoft-based licensing available at that time.  The Vienna Package ran successfully.

Earlier this month (November 2015) I added licenses to the same dongle for VE Pro 5 and Vienna Solo Voices.  The licensing system was eLicenser. The 2 packages (VE pro 5 and Solo Voices) have not been installed yet.

I am now trying to move to an updated computer that utilizes Windows 7 Professional and a clean target hard drive for installation.  I moved the dongle to the new computer. I am starting with the VSL Special Edition.  I consulted the original 2008 installation manual, Vienna_Instruments_Manual_English_V2.0.1.pdf.  Upon starting the installation of the collection the installer apparently recognized the package.info file from the library DVD 1. Then an error message was displayed, "File SYNSOACC.dll could not be located in the Windows System Folders."  After hitting <OK> I received another error, "The following Licenses are needed to install this package: Player (Vienna Innstruments), Special Edition Basic."

I don't know how to deal with these errors; please help.

  • Please make sure that the eLicenser Control Center and especially its database are up-to-date:

    Kind regards,

Well, I updated the elicenser and ran the licenser from the internet-conneted computer and invoked a "maintenence" opertation.  Then I moved the dongle to the music computer and re-ran the installer 5.4 and nothing changed, the error persists. The same occurs on VSL Solo Voices.   By the way, the SYNSOACC.dll is located on the internet-connected computer at C:\windows\system32, showing a mod date of year 2012.  Also that file is missing from the music computer at   C:\windows\system32.   Am I supposed to move a .dll file to the music computer?  My impression is only the dongle needs to move. I don't know what you mean by "database."

  • You are using a dongle from 2009?

Although the dongle may function properly on the old system, the warranty on those dongles is only good for two years.

I don't know if it will solve your problem but the first thing I would do is buy another dongle and transfer your licenses.  If that dongle fails, you're going to have a hard time getting replacement licenses.

    Hello Orcho,

    Let´s check the basics:

    1) You can see the installed licenses on both your keys when they are connected => the keys work fine (I checked our database and found your 2 keys, which contain different licenses. The newer key contains only one VE PRO 5 license).

    2) You installed the latest versions of both the eLicenser Control Center and all VSL Software on BOTH computers. => Correct?

Dietz meant that the eLicenser Control Center needs to be the latest version with the correct license database, that´s all.

If you are still facing troubles, please send a few screenshots to support@vsl.co.at.

    Best,
    Paul
