  • Jazz drum set question

I recnetly purchased the Jazz Drum Set.  I have many drumset smaples and most have a patch that contains all the drum sounds so you can play the set like a real virtual drum set.  I cannot find a way to do this with the VI drum set, everything is separate pathches.  Is there a way to add patches together so that they cann be played together on the keyboard?

    thanks

    Mike

  • Hmm... I don't have the jazz drums but this seems odd to me.  Are you saying there is no preset matrix that has a general kit set up?

Well, you could create your own.  Just load some kick samples to say C4 and C#4.  Rim to D4, crash to D#4 and then snares to E4 and F4, Toms, rides, etc.

  • HI Mike,

Check out the General MIDI Presets, that´s probably what you are looking for.

  • Hello Mike!

If you haven't done so yet, please download the "Jazz Drums Projects" file. You can find VIFrames (presets for Vienna Ensemble) in order to play the whole drum set there.

You can find more information in the Jazz Drums library manual.

  • Andi,

I downloaded the .zip files but where do they go so they can be accessed by the Jazz Drum kit?  What I'm looking for is a full set layed out on the keyboard so it can be played in real time like a real drum set.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Hello Mike!

I may quote the Jazz Drums manual, page 5 here:

There is a file called “JazzDrumsProjects_v2.zip” under Tutorials/Templates in the MyVSL section of the Vienna Symphonic Library website. Please unzip it and move the folder “Jazz Drums” containing the Vienna Ensemble Projects (“.viframe” files) to the folder where your Vienna Ensemble Projects are stored. By default, this folder is located in the “shared documents” folder on Windows computers, and in “shared” on OS X computers.
Now launch Vienna Ensemble, go to the “File” Menu and load a drum set of your choice.

As mentioned earlier these Vienna Ensemble projects contain full drum sets layed out on the keyboard.

    Best,
    Andi
