  • transfer libraries

    Hello

I just bought a new laptop and would like to use my Vienna Intruments and Vienna Ensemble Pro on it.

what is the procedure to transfer my libraries?

    thanks in advance

    BL

    1. Copy the instrument files to the new location
    2. Plug your dongle in
    3. Install the latest versions of all software
    4. Run directory manager
    5. Enjoy....!

  • Hi,

Just to add: "run Directory Manager" means: Drag the folder(s) containing your sample content on top of the Directory Manager, this way they Vienna Instruments / Pro will now where to look for the data.

  • HI,

I have done exactly this for VSL SE1 and Epic Orchestra and the instruments don't show up in VI or VIPro. They don't show red in the directory manager. I have tried deleting all the prefs in both my local and the main Library, I have deleted and readded them, but still they don't show up. I have a new dongle plugged in and registered and VIPro opens fine - but no instruments! Vienna Ensemble is working fine (this is a slave computer) with other libraries, but not the VI Library!

I have downloaded the latest version.

Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Hello Simon,

Did you make sure that your sample content is actually installed (*.dat files)?

Your downloaded installation files (*.cab files, highly compressed) have to be installed (=extracted) to become the actual sample content.
In the installation process, the location of this sample content is added to your Directory Manager automatically.

Installation should start automatically if you have not turned off the "Auto-Install" Option in the Download Manager ("on" by default).

If the sample content is not installed yet, simply click "INSTALL" in the Download Manager!

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Thanks for getting back so quickly. The sample libraries are all installed and I just checked the .dat files are in all of the folders. Sorry should have said before that I am running this on a Mac Mini i7 with Yosemite,  10.10.5

Mainly I'm trying to avoid having to download all those files again, but maybe I will have to? The strange thing is that it was all working perfectly on my old macpro laptop, and even on this one before I installed Vienna Ensemble. I've even tried uninstalling that and reinstalling it but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Also it is both the Epic Orchestra and the SE1 files that aren't working, so it seems it isn't just a problem with an individual instrument but with the samples as a whole.

  • Hello Simon,

Maybe something went wrong when you copied the files. I´d try that once again, remove the old folders from the Directory Manager and add the new folders again.

If that doesn´t help, I´d suggest to download the files once again (start with the EO, it´s not a big download).

  • Thanks DG and Paul for the info.

The stand alone works but when using my DAW, Logic Pro X 10.2.0, Vienna instruments Pro do not appear in the plug in slot.

I downloaded Vienna Ensemble and that does show up.

When Logic scanned for new audio units it said to update Vienna Instruments but I downloaded the latest version.

    Any help is again appreciated.

    Hi BL,

That means your data is fine and it´s there.

Did you try to check AU Validation in the plug-in manager in Logic (Preferences => Plug-in Manager)?

Did you re-install Vienna Instruments Pro already, just to be safe?

    Best,
    Paul

  • Thanks Paul

The AU vildation did the trick.

    Everything working now.

  • HI Paul,

All sorted, although a bit weird!

I deleted all the files from Directory Manager and all the prefs from both Libraries then redownloaded and installed Epic Orchestra. I ran Directory Manager and it saw Epic Orchestra; I rescanned and it found SE1 as well! I'd already tried deleting the prefs but clearly redownloading the Epic Orchestra files somehow fixed the SE issue as well.

    So, thank you!

    All the best,

    Simon
