  • Sibelius (7.5) Soundset - additional articulations

I'm not sure how to ask this question, so my apologies if it's confusing.

I'm trying to figure out how to add articulations that aren't a current part of the preset matrix (Solo Strings 1 Extended).

If I extend the matrix using the mouse, will it throw off the preexisting settings?  Will the additional rows and columns cause the playback to go awry?  I'm afraid to try it in case it wrecks things (I have a deadline).

If it won't, and I add "harsh" to an empty spot, do I then just need to add an entry in the playback dictionary (in Sibelius) to trigger the sound?

Also, is there a quick list to show what articulations are included in the sound set vs. which aren't?  I know I can look at the sample content page and compare it to the sound set in the sound set editor, but I'm wondering if there's a quicker way.

    Thanks!

  • Hello ghoststrat!

For additional articulations I recommend using the custom (empty) cells of the VI presets for Sibelius. You can add any patch you want and trigger these cells with the Technique text commands "custom1", "custom2" and "custom3". More details can be found in the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual, page 12.

Changing the dimensions of the matrices is not recommended as this will mess up the margins of the Control Change values and the sound set will not work correctly anymore.

The quickest way to look up the included articulations is to load a VI preset for Sibelius and check which articulations are included.

    Best regards,
    Andi
