  • MIR Pro, Imperial, and Sibelius

I want to create a standard piano quartet metaframe to use with MIR Pro, Imperial, and Sibelius. Since I can't seem get a good Imperial sound in MIR, I want to use a setup from the 'Venue Presets' package and add the solo strings. (This should work, right?)

How do I open the presets in VEP *Server*, which I must use in order to connect with Sibelius? Or do I open the preset in VEP (not server) and export the settings to VEP Server, or some such thing?

    Thanks,

    Clare Farris

  • Hello Clare!

The MIR Pro venue presets are VIFrames which can be loaded with Vienna Ensemble and Vienna Ensemble Pro - not in the VEP Server. So if you want to use them with Sibelius, proceed as follows.
    - Start VE Pro Server.
    - Start Sibelius.
    - Load your score or create a new one.
    - Create a new Playback Configuration.
    - Add a VE Pro plugin.
    - Connect to the VEP Server.
    - Load one of the MIR Pro venue presets (viframes).
    - Add the instruments.
    - Make program/channel settings on the Sibelius Manual Sound Sets page.

As you will need two different sound sets for the Solo Strings collection (VE Strings) and the Vienna Imperial (VE Special Edition), I would use the VE Pro Event Input as described in the "Optimzing Sibelius Playback" manual, page 5.

    Best regards,
