wrong glissandos with Sibelius 7.5.1 and VInstruments pro (with Vienna Ensemble)

I have Sib 7.5.1 and Vienna Instruments pro with special editions and special edition plus for strings. I use the soundset VE Special Edition Plus to playback harmonics, col legno and other articulations but glissandos are ugly. If I change soundset using VE Special Edition (without plus) I have good glissandos but no other articulations of string plus......

I have read the pdf optimizing playback in Sibelius but nothing change.

What can I do? Thanks a lot.

Hello Cesare!

Glissando articulations are not included in any of our Special Edition or Special Edition PLUS volumes. The closest thing is portamento. So maybe you want to use this articulation instead.

By the way glissandos are included in our Solo Strings I and Orchestral Strings I (Full library, only Violins) instrument collections.

Hi Andi and thanks for your quick reply but I know well my products and all features. I only want to know why, if I use Special Edition Sound Set I have a good (even if not perfect) glissando and when I use Special Edition Plus Sound Set I don't have. Whit the same products, Special Edition and SE Plus for strings.

And if there is a solution about this problem.

Hello Cesare!

With the Special Edition sound set loaded Sibelius sends pitch bend information to perform a glissando. So only intervals up to a major second will have the correct pitches performed and even those don't sound realistic to my ears. With the Special Edition PLUS sound set loaded a glissando line will trigger portamento instead.

I know that you have read the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual, but maybe you didn't see the tipps for optimizing portamento on page 19 yet.
