Noob Questions: Keyswitches & the HP file in Finale 2014

Hello world,

Ok, so I'm hoping you all can help me. I have Finale 2014 (just got it) and I'm trying to use my VLS Special Edition PLUS with it. But...

1) I have no freakin' clue how to do keyswitches. I never knew how to do them when just using VLS on protools, and I still don't know how to do them in Finale 2014. It makes no sense to me. Is there a REALLY, REALLY basic video tutorial out there? I've surfed this site, but I can't even understand the one on keyswitches that is provided. I've surged youtube and whatnot, and either they are not in English or they don't make sense.

2) I stupidly downloaded the HP preferences even though I have the SE PLUS....I know. However, I'm not sure if this is going to mess up my sounds from now on? I think it has affected the sounds that I use in any file...So, is there a way to...like, undo this? Delete it for good? D:

Also, I'm finding that I get a decent playback just using the Finale articulations, but when I do repeated notes of the same actual note (like, 4 Bb's in a row) on the same instrument, the first note is loud, and the rest are barely audible. Any idea what is going on?

I apprecaite all help and feedback. Like I said, total noob here, and I'm so lost D:. I want to use my fancy VSL sounds in Finaleeeee. Thank you!

Hello jfraioli!

A keyswitch is a key that doesn't produce a sound, but triggers an articulation change. To learn the basic controlls, I recommend watching our tutorial videos once again - especially the Overview video.

If you don't want to use the Special Edition Human Playback Preferences, simply got to the Finale Human Playback menu and select other Preferences.
