  • How does anyone play video on a slave PC?

    Hi,

I'm running three machines at the moment, using VEPro to share the load. I'd like to move the job of playing video off my main DAW machine, but really can't figure out how. All the solutions I find when I google seem to be for Macs, using their built in MIDI over network function. I did find Chaingang for PC, but it's legacy software that was last guaranteed to work with Quicktime 7, so probably not a way forward. What is anyone else doing?

  • You should be able to use any sequncer that accepts MTC and that will host video. The best way to go will depend on what sequncer you use on the DAW.

  • Doh - Thanks DG; it hadn't occurred to me to use a second sequencer. If I wanted to do it using MIDI Over Lan, rather than a MIDI cable, do you happen to know how well VEPro and MIDI Over Lan can coeexist on the same network?

  • I'm afraid that I'm not a Network expert, so can't help you with that. Hopefully Christian (cm) will be able to clarify what the best solution would be.

  • uhhh, it's long ago we actually used MoL, but coexistence was not the problem.

AFAIR it was a little bit tiring to get MoL driver to work correctly. i remember MoL is using port 11.000 by default (this even can be changed) which will not collide with VEPRO

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
