VE Pro 5 Interface Freeze
Hi there! I have VE Pro 5 running on Windows 7 SP1 x64, in Cubase 6.0.7 Build 364 (x64). I run VE inside Cubase (at the same pc) as a VST (loading the 64bit server). The only thing running in VE are instruments from the Solo Strings, Chamber Strings and Special Edition. The issue I have is that the interface of VE freezes randomly while I work in a project. It doesn't matter if I have loaded only one instrument or more; it will eventually freeze at some point. However, I can still play the instrument and continue working with the project even though the interface is frozen. For example, if I have already assigned various instruments inside VE to various midi channels inside Cubase I can still select another midi channel (in Cubase) and continue working with the assigned instrument (although VE stays frozen and I can't, for example, load another instrument). A restart of VE server and Cubase fixes the freeze issue for a while but then happens again at some point. Have you heard of this before? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks a lot, Georgios. Hi singeorge,
I assume you are runnning the latest version of VE PRO 5, right?
I haven´t heard of such a behaviour yet, are there maybe any other plug-ins involved that are inserted in VE PRO?
Best,
Paul

Hi Paul, Thank you for your reply. I am running the latest version of VE Pro 5 (5.2.12844) but the freeze has been happening from day one of my purchase, I just hoped it would be resolved at some point with an update. I don't insert any other plugins in VE Pro. Only Vienna Instruments which are bounced to audio when ready and I apply effects at that point. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out what causes this behaviour as it happens totally randomly - but always at some point. That is why I thought I would make a post about this issue in case someone had a fix. Any suggestions? Best, Georgios

Hi Paul, As I said before, this happens from day one but I didn't mind that much 'cause I thought it would be fixed at some point - also, I was writing maybe a piece per month so it was ok. Furthermore, a quick restart of Cubase was fixing the restored everything back to normal and I've never lost any tracks or anything similar. However, lately I've been writing more pieces than before so this happens more often. Graphic card drivers are updated as soon as new appear. Do you think it might be a NVidia issue? Unfortunately, I don't have any AMD graphic card to check it but I wouldn't mind buying the least expensive I could find just for testing? Do you think it worths the hassle? Also, if you'd like, I could make a short video to illustrate the freeze - I'll just have to wait until it happens again and capture it. Best, Georgios. PS. Somewhat irrelevant but I can't figure out how to maintain the break line feature in my posts. I press Enter but it doesn't show up this way!

Hi Georgios,
Your Nvidia card should be fine, but it might be worth the hassle to check with an ATI graphic card.
Regarding the formatting: I assume you are using Internet Explorer....
Best,
Paul

Hi Paul, I'll try to get an ATI graphic card the next days and see if the freezing of the interface persists. Until then, please do let me know if any other option comes up. Regarding the formmatting: All the previous comments were written in Firefox, this one in Internet Explorer, let's see... Best, Georgios
