3rd party VST and MIR

If I'm using MIR inside VEP, will a 3rd party VST instrument icon show up on the stage just as my VSL instruments do?  (I've only used a demo and didn't test that).

Thanks for your interest in Vienna MIR Pro, winknotes_282.

MIR Pro will allow for any kind of audio source being used in one of its Venues, be it Vienna Instruments, 3rd-party virtual instruments, plain audio inputs or even internal busses / submixes.

It is important to understand that MIR Pro will be able to do most of its "magic" with Vienna Instruments, though, simply because in that case MIR "knows" a lot about the signal and has ways to interact with the player engine which aren't available for 3rd-party products. This data is saved in the so-called "Instrument Profiles", which can be assigend manually or semi-automatically. Apart from directivity information, Instrument Profiles contain data about other aspects, like:

- Natural Volume
- The Stereo Width inherent in the original recording
- Instrument and / or ensemble size
- Natural timbres and possible changes to them (i.e. taylor-made "Character Presets")
- Typical playing techniques and ways of sound production

Obviously this data isn't available for any other kind of audio source. In these cases you will have to use one of the "General Purpose" Instrument Profiles. They offer a generalized selection of different directivity profiles (i.e. the way a signal is emanated from its source).
