  • Unable to open previously created sequence that used Vienna Instruments before upgrading to VI ...

    Hello!

So there's no question Vienna Pro is fantastic and a huge leap over the old VI interface.  BUT I have hundreds of sequences that were created with the original free Vienna Instrument Interface that came with the Instrument Libraries and now I have a real problem:  When I open those older sequences in Logic it doesn't load the Vienna instances as it's looking, I'm assuming, for the old interface.

Not being able to access my last 5 years of sequences is a problem, of course.  So how can I get the old sequences to see that the Vienna Instruments Software is still there, just new and improved?

    Many thanks,

    Mark

    Hello Mark,

Please check the chapter "Migrating from the original Vienna Instruments" on pages 11-13 in the VI PRO User Manual.

  • Thanks, Paul.  I looked at the manual which  says to save the presets of each instance as a CUSTOM preset so the old instances can be read by Vienna Instrument Pro  But I don't have the old player on this computer.  Does this mean I need to somehow open the sequence with the old Vienna Instrument software to save it as such before trying to open it in Vienna Pro?  I'm trying to figure out how to do this when the sequence opens up in the new computer. In the new computer, when I open older sequences in Logic,  a pop up comes up that says "Logic Pro:  Vienna Instrument plug-in not available" and every instance of Vienna on the channel strip shows up with a black line diagonally slashed through it.  So do I also need to install the OLD free Vienna Instrument Software on the new computer so that the old instances can be read, and will my computer key and computer itself allow both the old free software and the current Pro software to exist at the same time?

I see in Vienna ENSEMBLE PRO there's an option to "Copnvert Project to Vienna Instrument Pro"  but I do not own Ensemble Pro, just VIenna Instrument Pro.   So is there a way to do this just in Instrument Pro without owning Ensemble Pro?

Thanks for following up on this.

    best,

  • You can just install Vienna Instruments besides VI Pro and your projects will open as normal. In VE Pro there is indeed also the option to convert a VE Pro project's VI instances to VI Pro but this is not technically possibly in other hosts.
