  • Can't load presets

Hi I'm trying the trial MIR AU plugin in Logic. I'm very interested in purchasing, but before I spend that much $ I need to make sure I'll be able to use it on my system. The two issues I'm having at the moment are: 1. I'm having a problem loading a room preset. When I try I get this message: 'There's no Venue available for Vienna MIR... etc' I read the installation directions, found and set the path to the downloaded presets in the preferences. I restarted as it said to, but then get the same message when I try again. 2. Just in its default mode it seems to take up alot of CPU. But I can't determine if that is because I havent loaded a venue preset. Any help would be great thanks.

  • Passenger57,

MIR does require a good amount of CPU. I don't think the presets help that. Tell us about your system.

When you say default mode, are you selecting various rooms to demo?

  • Passenger57, thanks for you interest in Vienna MIR Pro!

Have you actually downloaded and installed a RoomPack (which contains the individual Venues)? If so - did you check if MIR's Preferences point to the right location?

    Kind regards,

  • Here is the same issue. I open MIR AU plugin in Logic 9.1.7, select venue and read this:

There´s no Venue avaible for Vienna MIR Pro, please make sure to have at least one RoomPack iinstalled and set the correct RoomPack Data Folder in Venue MIR Pro Preferences (Preferences - > Vienna MIR Pro).

In the preferences of MIR AU plugin I set the same path I use in MIR Pro 24 (VePro), where it works.

What I´m doing wrong. For help, I would be greatly appreciated.

  • Welcome 08freedom -

like I wrote above: Did you actually download and install at least one RoomPack? MIR Pro is a bit like the Vienna Instruments Player software - it needs the samples (i.e. the impulse responses) to fulfill the task it was made for. :-)

... for starters, the small MIR Trial RoomPack (which contains just one Main Microphone Position of one Venue) will do.

  • PS - oh, re-reading your message I see that it works with standard MIR Pro 24 in VE Pro ... that's strange.

Is all eLicenser related software up-to-date?

    /Dietz - Vienna Symphonic Library
  • Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, it´s very strange. The last days my problem was like I wrote above.

Now there´s a additionally issue. After my message I have installed VePro 11716 and the last eLicenser software and Logic 9.1.8.

When I start VEPRO and then in MIR Pro 24  select venue, I get the same message as above.

Now I can´t load any venues in MIR Pro 24. Oh what's going on? - Please Help!

  • Ouch! :-/ .... I informed VSL software engineers already, I'm sure they will look into it ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, can you please tell us the release-numbers of the RoomPacks you have installed on your system? Thanks.

    /Dietz - Vienna Symphonic Library
  • The release-numbers of the RoomPacks I have installed:  R01_KonzerthausVienna-r275  and  R02 StudioSoundstages-r137

    Hi,

works just fine here. Did you install ALL the latest VSL Software (also VE PRO)?

    Please confirm the build numbers.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Like I wrote above: VE Pro 11716, furthermore VI Pro 11630, VS 1819, MIR 11685 and the latest eLicenser update.

  • In which folder did you install your RoomPacks and what is the RoomPack Data Folder set to in both the VE Pro and MIR Pro preferences?

  • Thank you Karel for your quick answer.

In April I installed the RoomPacks and the RoomPack Data Folder was set to: /Volume/HD2/MIR

    It works fine.

Yesterday I installed VE PRO 11716 on my Mac Pro and it doesn´t work. But on MacBook Pro it works.

Now I have set the RoomPack Data Folder on my Mac Pro to: /Library/Application Support/VSL/Vienna MIR

It´s the same path as on my MacBook Pro and now everything works fine again. Strange is that I had to change the path now.

I want to thank you very much for the help

    Klaus

  • In rare cases this can happen due to the transition of separating MIR Pro from VE Pro. The good news is that it will only happen once. I apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Hi Karel,

I'm getting the same problem. No matter how many times I try to point the preferences to the folder where the Room Packs reside, I get the same error as stated above. All of my software is up to date.

  • In which application are you setting the preference?

  • I tried setting the preferences from the new plugin window that launches in the background after creating an instance (the Vienna MIR Pro application). I did not have VE Pro running; I added an instance inside of DP 7.24.

Just to be sure, I also loaded an instance in VE Pro, and I got the same result: the instance could not see the Venue folder, even though I checked the prefs inside of VE Pro and it was pointing to the same location as the plugin window.

  • Really strange. Perhaps try to kill the preferences of both MIR Pro and VE Pro by deleting any file in /Library/Preferences and ~/Library/Preferences that has a mention of either application in the name.

  • Trashed 22 preference files with VSL in them and still no luck getting the venues to appear.

Paul Steinbauer will be at my studio on Friday in Burbank to go thru MIR Pro with me; perhaps he can figure it out?

  • There seems to be some confusion regarding the RoomPacks and Venue Presets. The RoomPack Data Folder preference is the folder where RoomPacks reside, which can be downloaded from the MIR RoomPacks section in your user area. The Venue Presets on the other hand are a set of VE Pro projects (viframes) that serve as starting points.
