  • Changing MIR Instrument switches to Mixer

I simply couldn't find it if it exists.  When I am working in my venue, sometimes there are several icons layered with one another which creates a difficult task of selecting the one I want.  When I select the instrument I want on the left side of the instrument list, it changes me to the mixer (sometimes to the VI PRO plug-in window).

Is there any way to get MIR PRO to stay in the venue when changing the instrument with the channel list?  I want to be able to pick another instrument and modify it's own MIR settings, not its mixer settings or VI PRO instance settings.  It's quite a big annoyance really because clicking the actual MIR icon sometimes results in changing the setting accidentally or clicking the wrong one.

    Thanks,

    Maestro2be

  • You have several options, actually.

As soon as you detach the Instrument-tab from VE Pro's main GUI (by means of the little icon in the top-right corner), you will be able to navigate through the arrangement on the MIR stage by clicking on an entry in the Channel List window.

You could also activate the MIDI Activity Focus option and select the Icon by sending MIDI to it (that way you're always editing what you're hearing). - This feature is particularly powerful when used in combination with the "Follow" display-mode (the green button in the right corner below MIR's Venue View). Using this option, the selected Icon will always zoom right into the center of the dsplay - no need to zoom out and in again any longer.

In addition, you can always Hide one or more Icons from a MIR Venue as soon as the scenery gets too cluttered. :-)

I've added an option to disable automatic showing of the channel editor when clicking its channel strip for a future update. With this option the behavior is identical to mixer strips, where you can double click the colored label or right click the strip and select "Show Editor" to show the channel editor.

  • Thanks Karel , that is great to hear!  To some it may not be an issue, but I layer 3-4 strings per section and sometimes I want to change the amount of send to MIR's wet/dry signal differently on each section until it's got the sound I want and it's very annoying and tedious switching back and forth and losing my visual.

Also thanks for the temporary solutions Dietz, always a big support on the MIR issues!

  • Plus one. It's absolutely an issue for me, and for exactly the same reason as cgernaey. After more than a month of working with MIR, the reflex to click on the list while working in MIR is still automatic. See, click, d'oh! See, click, d'oh! I'll be using Karel's option too.

  • Undock the VI-GUI, that does the trick.

  •  Hi Dietz,

When I undock the VI GUI, it stays a window in the foreground.  If I close it, it simply opens a new one when I click an instrument in the list again.  How do I undock it and then hide it without having dual monitors?
