Edit: Ok, the problem was that I hadn't assigned the VE Plugins to the correct folder when reinstalling. Everything works now. Sorry for clogging the forum with my technical clumsiness. Brian.
Hello,
Until today, I have had no difficulty getting Sibelius 6.2 to recognize Vienna Ensemble, but I'm now having trouble getting Vienna Ensemble started in Sibelius. I've recently upgraded from VI Pro to VI Pro 2, if that may have something to do with it.
The problem started when I attempted to open a new score (string orchestra). As always, Vienna Ensemble opened when I assigned the playback device to Vienna Ensemble (VE Strings sound set), but when I attempted to load an instance of VI Pro into Vienna Ensemble, it suddenly crashed. There weren't yet any instruments loaded into VE, so I don't think it's a memory issue. I restarted Sibelius, and the same thing happened again as I tried to load VI Pro into VE.
I then realized I hadn't updated Vienna Ensemble lately, so I downloaded and installed the latest version (4.1 build 9753), but now there's a different problem. When I try to open VE from the playback devices, the small Vienna Ensemble service window appears, but the actual Vienna Ensemble instance does not.
I then clicked the "Show" button on the Playback Devices page to find that the status of the Service Interface was "NOT CONNECTED (invalid version)." Pressing the Reconnect button resulted in a message stating "Connection failed: Could not connect to Service because the version numbers of Service Interface and Service do not match." I have rescanned the Virtual Instruments and Effects folder under the Audio Engine Options, but that didn't help.
Incidentally, I am able to open Vienna Ensemble outside of Sibelius, and I don't have any problems loading instances of VI Pro 2 into it.
Is there something obvious that I've missed when updating the software?
Best regards,
Brian
