HI there,
FF sounds a bit compressed, maybe even distorted (solo strings). I have the VSL levels all at 0 (4 channels and master). The have 4 sibelius channels I amusing at max (127) in the mixer, and the sibelius master at 0.
I would have thought that was default 0 and everything should work? Do I have to bring the sibelius channels down? Won't that reduce dynamic range?
In fact I am surprised at the relationship between sibelius mixer setting and VSL - seems that if I pull the sibelius master right down the channels still feed the VSL channels and I can hear it all fine, but if I do the reverse, pull the sibelius channels down to nothing, then it all goes silent.
Do I perhaps have an error in the patching - or does that all sound normal to you?
Cheers,
Rangi.

Hello Rangi!
The Sibelius mixer intrument settings send CC7 (MIDI volume) data to Vienna Ensemble. I recommend either making your volume balances with this mixer or setting them all to the same value (about 100 in order to avoid clipping) and make the volume balances in the Vienna Ensemble mixer.
Best regards,

Sounds good - and presumably setting the CC7 data at 100 will not impact dynamics? So is the signal chain: Sibelius channels (midi) to VSL channels (audio) to VSL master, back into Virtual Instrument return in sibelius, and then the Sibelius master out, and then to my interface? Sounds convoluted to me. Given I am using VSL only, wouldn't it make more sense to go from VSL straight to my interface? Do you know if that is possible - or is there a good reason not to that you know of? Cheers, Rangi
