Brass and drums demo

Hah! That's great Marko and a lot of fun. There's a lot of ways you could put the track into any space, and while I like the way you've done the reverb on this track, I wouldn't mind hearing it drier with the drums more up front just as an extra example. Great stuff again though, as usual Marko!
It reminds me of The Taking of Pelham 123 and Predator - although it's in NO way derivative of those tracks.

The combination of this complex harmony with the jazz rhythms is fascinating. It reminds me in a good way of some of the complex 50s scores of some noir films like Sweet Smell of Success by Elmer Bernstein or something by Quincy Jones being more experimental like in The Pawnbroker, though it is not stolen at all from them . The performance is amazing - this is one of the best brass performances with VSL I've heard especially with all those variations of legato and dynamics in the trumpet parts. It has some perfectly controlled and subtle variations in the expression that are almost never heard in samples.
I'm wondering what you want to do with this. It is really good. You could do a three movement suite with this, a slow middle section and a frenzied end that would be a great publication for brass ensemble.

Thanks Paul, I had the drums up front on a previous mix, but they were difficult to settle in the mix. I find them difficult to mix just right.
The soundtrack on the original Taking of Pelham 123 is great music.
Thanks William. I am not familiar with the Pawnbroker soundtrack, but I will keep an ear open for it.
A three movement suite is a good idea. Glad you like the sound.
