Hey everyone,
I have been experiencing a very frustrating problem: when playing sounds from the VSL library in Logic, the samples would cut off at random times, as though the hard drive was not able to stream the file in time.
This happened independently on two systems - my old Intel Mac and a brand new octacore mac-powerhorse.
I have recreated the problem using different audio interfaces as well as MIDI input devices. Logic's buffer size was set between 512 and 1024 samples, and the sessions were sometimes as small as 1 software instrument. The event lists of recorded MIDI data do not show any unusual messages or controllers other than note on and offs. Yet still, the problem persists.
I also tried different HDs for the sampling drive, reinstalling the libraries, running Diskwarrior, and ensuring I have the latest software installed. As mentioned above this even happened on two independent systems.
I am getting a little desperate, as all attempts to isolate the problem have not given me a clear hint as to where I should look for the culprit. I am about to embark on a filmscoring project, and this problem feels like starting a marathon with a twisted ankle.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Steven
