Understanding saving...
I use Logic and I'm wondering how VE Pro works when it comes to saving files. If I save a project in Logic does it save the settings in VE Pro? Also, if I then open a project in Logic that uses VE Pro does it open up the correct instance or do I have to open the instance in VE Pro first. Does that make sense? I just want to make sure I don't loose settings and I understand how saving works between the two programs. thanks.

The correct way is to launch your Servers (32bits and 64 bits) on slaves side. Then you load you Logic project : instances will be loaded automatically with the right datas. Datas are saved in plug in side, not server side.If you disconnect and then reconnect an instance, this will reload the data automatically too (except if you chosse to preserve instance which is another topic).

And don't forget that data are saved in realtime. So if you do some change on slave, it is automatically saved on host. If you're doing critical changes (like deleting a VST), and you save you Logic project you cannot go backward (except using an old backup of your logic project).
That's why vi frame or metaframe may be used as safety backups.

Thanks for the info. I thought I had this working but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. I setup a template in Logic that had 4 VE Pro instances. I launch the server on the slave and open my logic template. My instances should load right? They don't. It worked a few times and then it stopped. I may have updated VE Pro. Does it not work if you update the VE Pro version? If that's the case that makes me extremely nervous. I could have projects that wouldn't open then months later if I've updated VE Pro to a newer version. Any ideas on this? I was excited to have this working but I don't understand why my instances don't load now.

I have VE Pro v4.1.7644 (the last one AFAIK) and Logic Express 9.1.3. I mainly use PT9 but tested here with Logic. The lonely difference I saw between those 2 DAWS is that :When you close a Logic Project, instances aren't disconnected automatically (you must either close Logic or open a project which will close/disconnect old instance and load the right ones). On PT, while closing a project, instances are automatically disconnected.
But for loading instances, either while opening a saved project or vreating a new one with a template, it automatically load the instances.
Didn't test with large sessions but with both 32 bits and 64 bit Server.
Maybe you only opened a 32 bits instance while your template was supposed to open a 64 bits instances. If yes, if your server isn't launch yet, you can launch the missing server and reconnect the instances one by one. With last VEP update, the plugin indicates if it is a 32 bits or a 64 bits instance so that you can coose the proper server.
Then you datas should be recovered.
Are you sure you didn't use the "preserve" instance function ? In this case, your template will reconnect to instance already opened and preserved (with the same name) but won't load data automatically. Datas can either been updated from plug in or remains in its state (= if made some changes with another project, data aren't modified).
