  • VE and Vienna Imperial

I'm using the free version of VE since I don't need all the LAN connectivity, etc. When I click on the "Channel" drop-down menu on the upper horizontal navigation area within VE, I get the choice to add either an instance of VI or VI Pro. I've just purchased Vienna Imperial and am wondering - once I have Vienna Imperial installed, will it also be listed in the choices under the "Channel" drop-down menu? Or, do I need to purchase VE Pro in order to use it with Vienna Imperial? Thank you for your help!

  •  Vienna Imperial is a VSTi, so on the CHANNEL drop down menu, you would select ADD VSTi, and Vienna Imperial will show there. You don't need VE Pro to run Vienna Imperial.

It's easier to select them from the icons at the bottom left of the screen, the jack plug icon (third from left) is the VSTi icon, Vienna Imperial and any other VSTi's you have will be selected here. If you can remember the key sequence CONTROL V will do the same.

  • Thanks for the response. Although I have the latest version of VE 4.1.7644, I don't have an option "ADD VSTi" under the channel menu. For me, the third icon to the left (at the bottom left) is a "plus" sign that adds a new bus channel. I'm using VE as a VST instrument within Cubase, but I don't know why that should make a difference. I did check the stand-alone version and I still don't have an "ADD VSTi" option. Are you sure you don't need the Pro version in order to add in VSTi applications?

  • If you're on Windows, make sure to setup your VST folder (menu Options->VST Settings). Vienna Imperial is the only instrument plugin that works in VE. For other instrument plugins you indeed need VE Pro.

  • It must be the VST path setting wrong, I hadn't realized that if the path setting is not valid, then the "add VSTi channel" doesn't appear, so pointing the VST settings to the correct folder should do it. You'll need to reload VE after you change the path setting.

  • Thank you. I'll give it a try once Vienna Imperial arrives at my doorstep.
