  • Error message on loading certain instruments in Vienna Instruments Pro

I use Vienna Instruments Pro (VIP) within Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (VEP).  Everything was fine until I upgraded to the new VIP 1.1.7553.  I get multiple occurrences of the messages listed below when I try to load the following SpecialEdition DVD/SpecialEditionPLUS DVD matrices:

    These are the matrices:
    - Tenor Trombone Mute
    - Tenor Trombone Mute +
    - Bass Trombone

    These are the errors:
    - eLicenser Control - Error:  The key could not be identified.  The format of the key is invalid.
    - eLicenser Error:  Error accessing eLicenser USB dongle.

My first thought would be to uninstall/reinstall the SpecialEditions and their associated keys, but those activaction keys control hundreds of matrices and presets and the error only occurs with three mentioned matrices.  It would also be a huge task and I don't want to undertake it if it's not certain to fix the problem.

I'm using the 64-bit version of VEP v4.1.7553 and the current version of eLicenser v6.4.1049 running on 64-bit Windows 7.  I'm still able to access these three matrices with VEP with no errors; the problem only comes up in VIP.  I don't think it's relevant, but I use Sibelius 6.2.0.88 (the errors come up even when Sibelius isn't loaded).

Perhaps an update of eLicenser is needed for the new VIP?

    Thanks,
    John

  • A little more information:  the error messages repeat a few times, after which the matrices that cause the error seem to play just fine.

  • Thank you Herb for the speedy reply.

A new version of what?  I need to know what to look out for!

    Thanks again,
    John

  •  It's a VI PRO bug, but also Vienna Ensemble has to be updated because of the embedded version of VI PRO there.
