  • Samples Have to Be "Woken Up" in VEP? sample drop out problems.

Hi everybody.  I'm having issues with VEP, running as a slave on a PC to my Digital performer host.. using network audio.  When playing pretty much any sampleware hosted on the VEP machine... as kontakt instruments or within PLAY (i've got  PLAY working seemingly fine)..  but particularly in large instruments with multiple cross fade layers such as LA scoring strings in kontakt.. or Hollywood Strings in PLAY... i'm getting lots of sample drop out... as i play instruments for the first time after loading....  and it only happens on new notes which haven't been played before... so as i play any note that i haven't played yet.. it seems to have to be "woken up"  it will start to play, but then drop out immediately.. and has to be triggered once or twice, before it will play without dropping out.  and this happens when just playing a single note in real time.. live...  so it's not a problem of voices being stolen.. or too many voices being played at once... it's just as though each individual sample has to be "woken up" and called to attention, before it will play fully... and then...  if i don't access these notes again for a few minutes... when i come back to play this instrument again, i have to go through the process again of "waking up" all the samples... so they'll play without dropping out..  help please!

  • This sounds like a Kontakt problem. Have you tried reporting this to NI support?

  • are you using dynamic IP for the network?

  • I'm having the same exact problem in East West Play as well tho.  and actually, it's the same even in the vienna instruments.... if i haven't played an instrument in a while, when i try to trigger a note from an instrument i haven't used in a while.. it plays a half second of the note, then drops out... but unlike the other sample players.. this only happens for the first split second.. and then the instrument will play fine from then on out... whereas, in kontakt and play... i have to "wake up" each individual sample often... so i have to play through the entire range of the instrument sometimes... to get all note "awake".  thoughts?

  • i am using a dynamic ip address.  should i be static????

  • Yes, fix as static IP.
