• Need help getting going please.

    Hi all. I tried to spend as much time as I could trying to figure this out before I gave up and came here. Okay, I downloaded the VEPro demo. 1) I could not find how to get the Epic Orchestra download. I see tons of manuals but cannot even find the actual Download Manager. Can anyone advise me about that? 2) I opened an instance of VEPro, created a Pro Tools session>add new instrument track>select VEPro> get the Server interface but it will not connect. So I close the first VEpro and I select VEpro 32 Server and VOILA I now can connect. The VE interface opens and I see on the left side the Epic Orchestra instruments and it say's they are authorized......but on the right side are no samples to play, nor can I find how to get the samples from my sample HD in. I tried to go to the Library Directory Manager thing and I selected say Omnisphere ...... a bunch of Omnisphere files loaded up in Library Directory Manager but I still found nothing in the VE Player loaded in the track. How do I get my VI samples into the Vienna "player" so I can make sounds to test VEPro out? Incidentally, after I opened the Pro Tools session I went to VEPro Preferences and it was seeing my Avid hardware interface. So I think I am ready to make sound....I just need to get the samples loaded in. I will really appreciate some help getting going. I cannot seem to get the help I need from the manual or from any of the video's, I have really tried believe me. Thank you.

  • By downloading the demo of VE Pro, you don't get the Epic Orchestra or even access to the download manager, it is only when you have bought and registered VE Pro that you will have access to Epic Orchestra (and the download manager). I ran into similar problems when I downloaded the demo of MIR, as I found the trial download room pack was too basic to demo anything (one room, one position only), though you don't need a VSL library to try VE Pro, any VSTi should do. You can get your Omnisphere into VE Pro, by going to the OPTIONS and VST Settings, add folder to where your omnisphere plug in is (you may have to restart VE Pro at this point), then in VE Pro click on the add VSTi icon, 3rd from left at the bottom (I think the icon is a jack plug), that should then get Omnisphere into VE Pro

  • Thanks andyjh, I will soon be in my studio to try that out. I really appreciate it. Yes I also just saw another post on the Epic not available as a demo. It makes sense as it is a 9GB download. Thank you.

  • Okay I am still struggling. I cannot find anything about VST Settings under Options in VEPro. I know I am doing something retarded. Here are two screenshots. One shows that I do not have anything VST under Options. I do have AU plugs under Channels and I got Omnisphere to load in and play, in fact I loaded 3 VI's no problem. But where are the VST versions? I know I have them because they load as either VST or AU in Reaper....and RTAS in Pro Tools. • VE Pro doesn't recognize vsti on a Mac, only AU.

  • That's great news! I thought I was missing something. Now I move forward.

    Your music is very awesome! I need to spend some time with it, there is so much depth it needs more than a casual listen. The guitar sounds I heard were really unique, in a good way. The tones can stab like an icepick and cut like a buzz saw yet never being unpleasant, harsh, piercing etc.

    I don't know how you got that but whatever you did, it is most definitely a sound of your own. Lot's of guitarists will never really achieve that. There is a lot of good tone out there, very easy to achieve these days....the choices are endless......not like trying to find an amp that sounded good 25 years ago or so. Now they are everywhere....modelers too. But so many players get these generic "good tones" and many sound alike. At that point it is only style and an extra dose of ability that will separate the men from the boys.

    Also the "sound design" type stuff within the compositions was cool too....I will spend more time when I get into the studio so I can at least listen on my studio monitors and not the MDR-7506's.

  • thanks so much, chile. [:D]

    I've been at electric guitar since 1970... I think I got close to a harsh bit of unpleasantness in MKRXXZ City, going for tragedy in a way.

    It is MUCH easier to get 'a tone' nowadays. I just saw a thread elsewhere people bemoaning the fact of too many choices too easily available while at the same time asserting it's more work. It is if you don't know what you want I guess. There are tones which are a lot of work, a quasi-dirty but round blues tone that's convincing to the aficianado of that, takes some time and some tools. Amplitube Jimi Hendrix isn't all the way there out of the box by any metric for those sounds, A/B them, and no.

    The basic tone in those works of mine, I won't have got without real money in the day, so that's that IME.

    This forum is a bit odd, you have to set your profile preferences to get a break to happen. {community/enhanced editor. and I think you have to refresh your browser to effect that change}

    I also found that if you quote someone, you can't mix 'quote = "user..."' with 'quote'.
