  • 7553 Crashing and corrupting viframe files ?....

I can not load my previous metaframes.  They are very large.  I have done  a lot of testing, and I have a couple of Kontakt multi's that are very large and contain many patche in instrument banks.  With an 18k preload buffer these multis are still over 400 megs of RAM.  I can load these multi's into VE PRO, but when I save and reload they are corrupted and VE PRO loads the multi purged and says there is only about 222k buffered.  Doing anything like deleting the instance, etc. .. instantly crashes the latest VE PRO.  I am using the new Kontakt beta 4.21 so perhaps that is the cause.

Where are crash file logs on a pc located?

    Thanks,

    Danny

  • One other weird thing that is happening.  The instances of VE PRO that are not working right have odd behavior in Logic.  If I couple the instance, as soon as I touch the AU plug in Logic to say remove it from the channel it immediately triggers VE PRO to "save" the instance.  There is no way to remove the plug as it keeps trying to save in VE PRO every time I touch the plug.  I have to decouple to even remove it.

  • Can anyone point me to where the crash logs are on a Windows 7 machine?

    Thanks

  • Both your issues seem to be either caused by Kontakt or by Logic (which will indeed save plugin data when removing tracks to allow undo later on). While working it is common practice to decouple the plugin until the final save for this reason.

  • It is not Logic since I can recreate this problem with just VE PRO and Kontakt.  I am assuming it is a Kontakt Beta problem.  Can you tell me where the crash logs are so I can send and have you verify this?

    Thanks,
    Danny

  • It's not a Logic bug, but rather a side effect of a feature. When you remove a track, Logic will save the track, so you can undo the track removal later on. You can find all crash logs through the Console application in OS X.

  • The crashes and logs are on the PC not the Mac.  I can have VE PRO hang and crash with Logic not connected.  I want to send the PC logs so I would like to know where those log files are.

    Thanks,

    Danny
