Hi everyone,
I recently added Euphonix controllers to my rig, which use ethernet to send and receive into the main Mac Pro. I have a (GB) switch that connects to a router in another building. The slave machine (also Mac Pro) hooks into this switch. Everything worked fine until I installed the Euphonix, and now the 64 bit VEP server on the slave machine is crashing, but not the 32 bit instance, oddly enough.
I have the (5) Euphonix controllers on their own GB switch, which is connected to a port in the main switch, where the master and slave computers are connected. This way, everything can get their IP addresses assigned from the router. The main computer is using only ethernet 1 for its connection. The Euphonix system must be connected to EN1 to work properly.
So my question is, is there any way for the master machine to use ethernet 2, to have a dedicated connection to the slave? I have tried coming out of EN2 into a switch, then out of that into the slave machine, but it doesn't work, presumably because the slave can't get an IP address from the router. If I got another Router/GB switch and put it between EN2 on the master computer and EN1 or EN2 on the slave, would that work? How would I set up the Mac network settings?
Thanks!
