It's great that VSL has done the Flugel Horn and I hope it's as great a VI as the Cornet which I'm sure it will be.
That fills many of the gaps in the line up for the British and European style Brass band. But can I plea/beg that VSL completes the journey. There are three instruments missing. Two I can almost do without being the Soprano Cornet in Eb for which the piccolo trumpet makes a reasonable substitue and the Baritone (horn) in Bb for which the Euphonium, with a bit of timbral tweaking, is OK.
But the absolute must showstopper is the Tenor Horn in Eb also known as the Alto Horn or Alto Saxhorn this instrument here. The French Horn is a huge no-no in every respect. Entirely different beasts and sounds. This would also complete the tuba family instruments Flugel Horn (Soprano Tuba), Tenor Horn (Alto Tuba), Euphonium (Tenor Tuba) and the Bass and Contrabass Tubas.
I know it is not an orchestral instrument (although Hindemith wrote one of his sonatas for it). But there are far more brass bands around the world than there are orchestras and there are three tenor horns in each band so I'm sure there would be market out there. If VSL could just hint that it is in the pipeline I would promise to face Vienna every night and make suitable homage.
Yours very respectfully if not completely humbly and grovleingly.
