  • What a surprise!   I know several people who compose orchestral music but aren´t very experienced in / don´t like to learn all about acustic / mixing etc., therefore I think it´s a great product for all composers who have a smaller budget / only one "normal" computer. Great!

    Thanks VSL!

    Best, Rainer

  • Too bad no OSX! [8o|]

  • Should be because of the needed 64 bits architecture.

But yeah, I will jump on it as soon as a Mac version is released.

I spend so much time to get my orchestral arrangement sounding fine (barely) using standard reverbs that this piece of software might save me

    a lot of time.

  • I'm sure that Dietz will correct me if I'm wrong, but there will be no OSX version of MIR as we now know it, so I assume that this also applies to MIR SE. There will be an OSX version of MIR Pro, when that is eventually released.

  • Huh? That would be very disappointing as an OSX version of MIR in its current form is essential.

  • OSX 10.6 is 64 bit, or am I missing something?

I think you'll have to wait for MIR Pro.

    That is correct.

  • Having tried the demo of the full version it'd be great to demo this version. I say this as although I could run the full version, my PC is not super powerful and so I could only get perhaps 10 instruments working with decent latency.

If this version really does lessen the requirements slightly, it would be nice to know by how much - either if people could post their results when they have chance to buy and test  or ideally by being able to demo the "cut down" version

All in all, given the amazing sound I was getting from the albeit small ensembles in the full version this seems like a very sensible move by VSL if those without the super computers can use it!

    Thanks!

Ah, I ordered it as soon as I saw it online, but something went wrong with my order [:(] ...

... but maybe someone at VSL could take care of it (Stefan?),

  • Btw, the "Neuer Saal" has been renamed tp "Berio Saal" as they finally found some sponsor.

(After ages of having lots of conerts in Konzerthaus most funny halls as Alban Berg Saal, Schönberg Saal ...) I was the first time pretty confused in getting some invitation to Berio Saal ~ 1 year ago...)

Any plans in changing this also in Mir Products?

  • Hi Michael,

Your order has been fixed, please check your mailbox. :-)

    Best wishes,

    Stefan

  • I wonder if MIR SE would run on a Mac by using Boot Camp.

Yes, of course it will. You can run the full MIR under bootcamp.

  • It's been a long time VSL tends to give up on Mac OSX.

From some exchanges I had with one moderator a long time ago, it's seems that he (or some of the coders)

doesn't even like my beloved operating system at all ( they use their own windows view for V.I. making quick window switching impossible in Logic, They bypass core audio ... for some good reasons it seems). It sounds like with the coming of their dedicated PC workstations approach (mainly for ensemble and MIR) for "hollywood studios", this trend gets stronger and stronger.

Up to the point we're at now : no MIR SE for Mac platform.

I just want to say how sad I'am about this .

In my eyes VSL is by far the best symphonic library ever made, Mac is by far the best platform ever made

(I use both PC and Mac on a daily basis).

As for the MIR _pro_ OSX pseudo-announcement, I'm not sure this will fit my needs and budget.

I'm very interested in MIR SE (and I'm at the right place/forum though), I use VSL SE and Solo Strings to add some string arrangement to Pop -Rock and Metal  music,  I'm under Mac OSX and I don't wan't to fill one of my room with a cluster of PCs to get a string quartet sounding right.

So as a humble user of VSL can't I expect seeing VSL team keeping releasing their great tools and software for my platform, my budget and needs ? As they started with VSE ...

Is it too much to ask, or is it just me ?
