Everything installed, but no sound?
Hello, I have reinstalled all my Vienna Special Edition software, following all the directions very very carefully. But I get no sound, from either the Stand-alone instrument, nor in the interface with Logic 9.1.1. Also, when Logic 9.1.1 starts, there's no indication that the instruments are loading. (But there is also no error message.) Logic spends time loading all my other software instruments, but never pauses (as it used to) to load VSL. The channel strips in old files still show Vienna Instruments in some tracks, and the stand-alone player shows plenty of presets, as well as a graphic readout when I use my controllers or play midi files. It looks like sound is coming out. But there is none. Other instruments sound fine, and I have checked the volume levels, audio settings, etc. But I don't know what to look for in order to solve this. Thank you.

there's a lot of potential culprits that could be the source of your problem.
The same applies to the sound card manual, the Logic manual, and any and all manuals that might apply to your situation.
Perhaps this will help, maybe not. I am on the PC side of things but I was able to get sounds immediately when I first loaded my software. I did have issues but found that I was not loading the VST stuff in the correct place. I have found that talking out my issues with the tech people really helps; however, be aware, they will drive you back to the brass tacks of your computer in describing the problem. Usually you have to go like:
Loaded Vienna Special Edition software
Opened Logic
And so on where you document each incremental step taken as you start up your system. And how you loaded Vienna Ensemble on your system,
And so on. When I discovered my problem, it was a seemingly tiny oversight that had occurred in the loading of the software. Keep pluggnig away, it is indeed well worth the struggle. [:P]
just thought of something else-turn off all programs that run in the background during your install-anti virus, firewall, etc.
Finally, you may have to start with a clean install-find an agressive uninstaller program so that all the modifications that have been made during installs will be removed. This may mean reinstalling the operating system again first and then hooking up everything back up starting with your sound software and leaving all else unitstalled until that gets going.

I was so frustrated by this that I gave up on VSL for a month, even though I had spent hundreds of dollars on it. I used Logic Instruments, spent even more money on Wallander, used all those instruments with ease, and finished my project. Now, weeks later, I'm finally trying to get a return on my investment, because I have a little extra time. So I've done what you suggested -- read EVERY page. Restarted everything in multiple orders. Reinstalled system software. The software isn't working. I'm not happy with getting advice that amounts to "the problem is you, you're not being careful enough." The problem is that there's a trick, a bug, an instability somewhere, that I don't know about. VSL *worked* for me -- for like half a day, and then I moved the instruments to a new location, and then it never worked again, even though I retraced my steps a hundred times, returned to the former "working" method, etc. I'm hoping a Mac User / Logic user can let me know what the "workaround" is, because this problem is not stemming from misuse of the program or misunderstanding of the (horribly written) manual. It's an instability in the software that I believe the developers ought to step in and take some responsibility for.

Did you re-scan with Directory Manager? It's best to remove everything and then re-scan the new paths where your .dat files reside. Maybe try this again, and make sure to re-start your Mac for good measure. Moving files is bound to cause problems.
Also, make sure you have the latest version of eLicencer Control Center.
Sorry if I'm stating obvious stuff, but it never hurts to check basics....
