  • Using multiple string sets in Sibelius

    Hello:

I am trying to create a score that uses Appassionata strings to start, switches to Special Edition Orchestral Strings (I need col legno) and then switches back.  I've read a bunch of PDF files that mention this but I cannot get it to work so I must be doing something wrong.

Can someone help me with a step-by-step reply?

    Thanks,
    John

  • Hello John!

The col legno articulation is not included in the Special Edition. You will need the Orchestral Strings collections for that.

If you want to combine articulations from the Appassionata Strings and the Orchestral Strings you will have to make up your own matrix or preset.
In order to work with our Sibelius sound sets this preset must be constructed the same way as the one you are currently using. Just replace some Appassionata articulations with Orchestral Strings articulations or vice versa.

    I hope that helps.

    Best regards,
    Andi

I have set up a string preset and sib soundset for exactly this - ie basically appass but including the col legno, harmonic sul pont etc from the SE Plus

Happy to PM them to you?
