  • Instead of doing everything on 1 new 64 bit computer, what about 2 computers and Vienna Ensembl...

    Hi to the forum,

Would it be better with my new Windows 7 64 bit pc, to use it as a slave computer connected by the ethernet cable to my Windows XP computer, with my Vienna Instruments samples on the Windows 7 pc, and using my vienna instruments by having the Vienna Pro on the new pc? The new one also has a soundcard coming with it also. I know you don't need a soundcard with a slave computer using Vienna Pro Ensemble, but will having one [it is custom built into the computer], interfere with what V. ens pro is doing in sending the audio sounds across to the main pc?

In that way, I don't have to worry about getting the 32 bit plug ins to work on my 64 bit computer. I would just have to stream them across from the Windows 7 to my Windows XP computer then.

I can still have my vienna instruments on both computers, and just switch the dongle between both when I want to use vienna instruments just on my normal windows xp.

Also, I know that Cubase 5 can be installled on my Windows 7 pc, but, lets say I am using up to 5 gigs of samples or more on my slave computer using Cubase, does this make any difference to the fact that on my main Windows xp computer, Cubase cannot use more than a certain amount of ram? I am thinking that it is only audio that is coming from the slave computer, and I am guessing that the amount of ram used in the samples on the Windows 7 slave, has nothing to do with the amount of audio coming from the slave to the Windows XP main computer.

    Am I correct here?

So, with Vienna Ensemble pro, can you use this as a plug in with Sibelius 6 also? In otherwords, the audio from the samples is all that sibelius deals with, and not the amount of ram, so I can use lots more vienna instruments with Vienna Pro in Sibelius through the slave, than I could with just one 32bit computer?

Thanks if someone can inform me or correct me here.

Also, if I have all my sample libraries on my Windows 7 pc, I do have a spare dongle that I can use for the Vienna Suite on my Windows XP. At the moment, my Vienna Suite is on the one dongle with all my vienna instruments. Is there some way I can transfer the e-licence on my Vienna Dongle for my Vienna Suite, on to the spare dongle I have so I can use this as a plug in on my main pc for mixing in reverb and the other plug ins?

    best,

    Steve [:)]

ps. Just as a quick edit to this message, I am now downloading the 2 videos about Vienna Ensemble Pro to find out more, but I read this on the product page: "Use it as a host on the same computer as your sequencer to integrate all your 64-bit and 32-bit instruments, or use it as a master-slave solution".

Does this mean that Vienna Pro will enable my 32 bit samples libraries to also be on the Windows 7 computer and to also operate withing VEns pro also, without having to use other software to make the 32 bit sample libraries work within the 64 bit environment?

Also, I have Altiverb. Does ensemble pro enable you to use that as a plug in also?

    Thanks,

    Steve. [:)]
