  • Hi Chuck

Thanks for the files, are you planning to do the Appassionata lib or is this lib included in the Cube ?

Did you manage to make Notion work with VE PRO 64bit SERVER ?

I have made a test with VI, got clicks and pops even with the buffers at 1024,

I have post to have  help using the VE PRO 64 bit SERVER since over a week now, no answer from Notion, this is not very serious from this company

I have also ask that they extend the demo period

    Best

    Cyril

  • Hi Cyril,

The Appassionata patches are already in the presets.  The only instruments that can be picked directly in NOTION are those who have .notion files or put another way, the current selection of instruments that are available for Special Edition.  You can load for example Violins I into your score.  Then by clicking on the instrument interface, picked from the presets menu that I have provided the appassionata Violins [03 Violin (a20)].  The patches have been loaded in such a way to respond correctly to the NOTION commands.  You can use the same approach with other instrument presets that have been provided.  For example, one could load Trumpet I then replace that preset with Bass Trumpet or Cornet.

I have six instances of VE-PRO 64 working with NOTION with no problems using a single MacPro.  It's not the configuration that was provided with NOTION but my own custom.  The only issues I have is that any single-line percussion whose patch uses different keys on the keyboard for different articulations (i.e. snare, bass drum, cymbals, etc.) cannot be mapped if the instrument resides outside of NOTION such as in VE or VE-PRO.  This is to due with internal assigned instrument ID's that allows NOTION to know what instrument is loaded.  That assignment is lost when you link a staff to an External VST.  The solution at the present time is to load those type instruments, many drums and cymbals into NOTION and the rest in VE-PRO.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thank you Charles, your contribution is certainly welcome and a great addition to NOTION.

  • Hi Cyril,

I believe both Brian Meisner and I replied to your inquiries regarding the VE PRO Server configuration, both on the forum and to your e-mail. I'm sorry to hear you are still having problems setting up the configuration with VE PRO Server. If you watched the video tutorials and followed them through, there's most likely a step that was missed or something else , because I do use VE PRO (server) everyday. You mentioned you used NOTION3 Demo, correct? Did you get the .fxp presets for VSL from our website for the VE PRO channels (there is a step in the video that also explains how to get the fxp's I believe)

It may be that you simply missed a step in the process, but as many SLE and NOTION users are using VE PRO everyday, and as is seen on our videos, I assure you it is possible. In fact, it is actually recommended to use VE PRO, for large orchestral scores. At my own studio I have two computers - a master and a farm which talk to each other through it. I'm not quite sure how Charles is set up, but I know he is using VE PRO as well.

You can contact me further on my e-mail (you have it, correct?) and we can discuss your specific situation further. I believe it is just a matter of missing a step in the process.

    Thanks

    Lubo Astinov

  • Hi Lubo

Sorry to be a pain .... English is not my Mother thong, you should have your video in French [:P] [;)]

I have import a large score and have tried to make it play with VE PRO SERVER 64 bit

I have place my problem  at : http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/p/24890/166593.aspx#166593

I dont have your mail, and the last mail I send to support was not answered !

I have left you also two phone message at your company

It will be very good to have demo songs using VSL too

  • Hi Chuck

    Thanks for your answer

I own SE PLUS, Appassionata String I, Epic Orchestra, Cornet and Trumpet ensemble (download),

What are the instruction so I just add those in the SE PLUS Lib in Notion ?

    Thanks again

    Best

    Cyril

  • Hi Cyril,

Considering that you own SLE, I would not use my files in the NOTION Application folder but just take the PRESETS and copy them to your VSL Custom Data directory.  When you select for example Violins I in NOTION, the program will load VI-14 SLE.  Then from your instrument interface (VI interface) select the instrument you wish to use which will replace the SE instrument with the Cube/Appassionata instrument.

  • Hi,

I realise this thread is very old but do these files (I also realise the link is broken) work in Notion 5? I'm testing out a trial of Sibelius to see how good the VSL playback is for the Standard libraries. I'd like to compare this to Notion 5 which I already own. If not, is anyone here familiar with how to get the VSL Standard libraries playing back in Notion 5?

    Many Thanks

    Paulo

  • Hello Paulo!

Notion 5 is prepared to work with our Special Edition and Special Edition PLUS volumes. Custom VI presets for Notion get loaded automatically when you add the according instrument in Notion. Our bigger instrument collections cannot be used with Notion easily, because there are no rules for Notion to change articulations automatically.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Andi,

Ahh ok, that's a shame. Thanks for letting me know!

    Paulo

  • Ok so some guys on the Presonus forums have managed to get it working by loading the standard instruments over the special edition instruments in the SE presets.

Whilst trying to test this out I realised that VI Pro and VE Pro do not install .vst files and Notion was unable to detect them. I had to install the standard VI and VE which installed the necessary .vst files for Notion to detect. Is this a known issue? I'd really like to use the Pro versions with Notion.

    Thanks

    Paulo

  • Hello Paulo!

Do you mean VST2 or VST3-files? Vienna Ensemble Pro comes as VST2 (.dll) and VST3 (.vst3) files. Vienna Instruments Pro 2 only comes as a VST 2 instrument. As far as I know Notion can only use VST 2 instruments.

    Best regards,
    Andi

Please ignore 😛. I reinstalled Vienna Instruments Pro and Vienna Ensemble Pro for the 3rd time and they generated .vst files in the VST folder (the VST2 folder is empty - I'm on OSX, not sure if that makes a difference). Anyway ,they now load in Notion and I am one happy chappie ðŸ˜ƒ

    Thanks for you help Andi!
