Evrey now and then, like most old guys, I fell victim to the "Walldorf&Stedtler" syndrom and rant. But - hey! - we are old guys and we are entitled to rant.
And every other now and then, you have to admit, that you where not exactly right - you guys at VSL are just catering well to your community.
I am always amazed, diving into my VSL SE , about the sound and the power you can unleash when you spend the time and effort to work with VSL and VE. Track for track, bringing a VSL SE orchestra to sound, is always amazing. Not to diminish the other libraries (I have Garritan as well and they can serve well), but VSL adds a twist of well engineered magic to it.
This easter weekend, I spent the time doing something interesting (leaving the eggs to the kids and the bad weather to the outside) and worked in my Studio. As a passionate user of Geniesoft "Overture" , I was always kind of sad, that Don did not continue developing his software.
Recently, there was some new activity at Geniesoft, and a series of patches was released. I took the chance and worked the weekend with VSL and the new patch within Overture 4.1. By no means I am Pro or good at notation. Maybe it will be not your product for score submitting to Hollywood. Overture was just my size and I have to say, it is again. I could make articulation and keyswitch to work with VE (running VE outside of Overture) and it works like a charm with some tweaking.
I can just say, for everybody who has a copy around somewhere and is on a budget or just not into learning a new trick: Take the dust off. install the new patch and give it a spin. When I have some more time, I can eventually share my mapping.
Cheers to everybody
