  • VE Pro channel strip settings

    Hi,

Have any channel strip settings been made for VE Pro?

I sometimes feel that I need a Masters in Computer Technology to be able to get any sound out of my machine. Thanks for all the efforts VSL put into software such as VE Pro and VSL Suite (and the Suite presets are a great help too). I'm wondering how pioneers could have scored any sort or orchestral work using computer mock-ups only 5 years ago: well done, chaps!

I'm trying to look at the best, fastest and most effective way for me to work with VE Pro, Special Edition Plus and a few other (VSL and not) libraries, and I came to the conclusion that all I need is the possibility to load templates individually in VE Pro.

They could be sorted by halls (load 3 depths on external buses), instruments (load an individual instrument with positioning in the room, x-fade on, ready to be used in Sibelius), colour (what type of music => what type of eq/comp/levels/...), etc... So that when I start inputing notes into Sibelius or Logic (or others...), I can very easily and quickly have a good idea of what it will sound like.

I've read somewhere else on this forum that powerpan presets didn't make sense. Part of me agrees with that: it doesn't make sense if you take each instrument individually. However, we could consider some settings that relate to one whole ensemble. That could be a strings quartet, quintet, big band, wind band, small orchestra, large orchestra, hollywood sound, epic, big percussion, romantic, baroque, solo, etc... I know the list can go on forever. But I believe that, by choosing carefully about 20 different situations, we can already cover quite some grounds.
A survey could also be made to know what the users of VSL products are after, and if such templates would be of any use to us all. I guess really advance users have already spent a great amount of time working on their own templates, is it correct?
Well, if anybody is willing to share their knowledge and point of view about the above, you're more than welcome!

    Best,
    Denis
