HI Jonathan:
Just to let you know that I and many others use VSL and Finale regularly. They work very well together. I disagree with Andi's observation that the bigger sample collections are easier to handle with Sibelius or DAW's. Sometimes I feel that there is a predjudice at VSL which favours Sibelius over Finale. This may not be true, in which case my apologies to the VSL team, but it does occasionally seem that way. In any event Finale and VSL are a great combo!

Hi Michael!
Thanks for your opinion. I don't have any prejudices against Finale. I think both, Finale and Sibelius, have their pros and cons. Maybe you can elaborate a bit on how you use the bigger collections with Finale. Did you make your own Human Playback Preferences?
Best,
Andi

After 10 years of working with FINALE (I mean I also was payed for making scores), due to the VSL I have passed to Sibelius 6 and I ask to my self: why did I wait so long?
Actually, I know that I wouldn't like the previous releases of Sibelius, but with number 6 I think it has overtaken Finale. In all aspects.

Hi Andi:
Thanks for the reply. I am sorry if I over-reacted; perhaps I am a bit sensitive in this area. It is partially because VSL seems to provide more support, in the form of utilities like HP prefs., to Sibelius users. Perhaps I am mistaken. For example, there could be 2010 HP prefs, and ones for products other than the Special Edition.
In any event, yes, I make my own HP prefs. It is time consuming but not difficult. I used to use VSL within Logic, driven by Finale (and I still do that if I am writing a piece that involved electronics), but now that VE can be loaded via AU into Finale, I connect them directly.

Hello Michael!
Thanks for that. Actually I wanted to make more Finale Human Playback Preferences, but had the feeling I had to compromise too much, because too many articulations couldn't be triggered.
There's no need in Finale 2010 HPP, because the Finale 2009 HPP will work perfectly well with Finale 2010.
Best,
Andi

Hi Andi:
You can trigger many articulations in Finale HP, especially when you combine a keyswitch with controller data.
By the way, there is a mistake in your Finale HP preferences. The "Tuba legato" technique shows "Contrabassoon" as the instrument.

Hello coolbeanj!
Thanks for your interest. As far as I know, Finale PrintMusic will not let you make changes to "Human Playback". In order to use our Special Edition with Finale, you will have to load (and use) the Special Edition Human Playback Preferences. If these cannot be imported with PrintMusic, it won't work properly.
Best regards,
Andi

Hi Andi,
Just to see if Matthew is right about the Finale integration, and the possibility of sending 3 key switch controllers for each articulation; I already sent him a message but he did not reply yet. If so, I 'm just asking my self why he's not sharing those sound sets, or why you "are not willing" to take the risk in doing some ;)...
I can pay, if is so much time consuming to make them. A lot of Finale users probably are waiting to see something done in this direction.
All the best

Thanks Andi for your fast response; one thing though, did Finale team gives you some hints about when they are going to implement some new things ? Finale 2012 , 2013...other time , era ...???;)))
It looks like the things are procrastinated too much ...
Anyway, good to know that at least they are aware about this..or maybe they were from few years ago--- don;t get me wrong , I love Finale but I still find this issue being too much postponed........and who's the wining guy from this issue , I don't see it yet....:)) kind of frustrating ....
All the best,
B

The FInale HP lets you use custom text as a basis for articulation changes. Wouldn't that be sufficient in place of articulations not in the drop down list?

HI Bill,
Thanks for jumping in. I did the same thing with other libraries and this method didn't workout with HP algorithm of interpreting. In other words, using like this the articulation changing, did you obtain the same results in playback as if they were integrated in HP file? Are you satisfied with it?
Many thanks
Bogdan
