  • MIR Demo

I see there now is a MIR trial button...

before i dload it, just a question ( which im sure has been asked a few time already but...)

Does it have the same hardware requirements as the full version?

So on my vista 64, 2.8 Quadcore, 8GB ram pc, it will be useless to even try it?

    Thanx.

  • In fact, the demo is identical with the full version as far as the actual engine is concerned. The sole restriction is the time limit (30 days - just "reload" the licence with the LCC whan you run out of starts earlier). You will can load only one main microphone position from one hall (Mozart-Saal), though, not all the 20 IR sets. - The manual is still preliminary, but it covers all important technical aspects thoroughly.

Your system should be able to give you nice results with smaller setups, but please don't expect an 80-piece orchestra playing in realtime ;-)

Enjoy - and please tell us about your results.

    Kind regards,

  • hey.

Well...it worked very well, i loaded up around 10 full instruments, and never had the CPU go over 40% when when hammering the keys like mad.

So im assuming i could load up around 20 full VI`s...which was way more than i expected.

And by that i mean the full Appassionata contents, the entire Basson2 contents etc, not just some small instrument files.

This was running a Echo Audiofire FW interface at a 256 buffersize.

There was a crash tho, from out of nowhere after about 1 hour or so.

BUt i must ask...given the price and all...how come there is no option to load other VSTinstruments besides VSL?

And...also ...and im sure this is obvoius for some reason not known to me, but why is it not possible to have MIR inside my sequencer of choice, but only as a standalone? Is that for technical reasons? I guess so, perhaps in time there will be other solutions?

Anyway...the sound is flawless...it simply does not sound like "artificial" reveb, it just sounds natural and effortless, very impressive.

    Me likes it alot.

Please remember that MIR is version 1.0. MIR Pro is scheduled for later this year and one of the things mentioned is that you will be able to load other VSTi than those from Vienna. However, I would imagine that this causes not a few problems, so I guess the software will be ready when it's ready.

  • Sorry if this sounds like a retarded question, but does MIR work with Sibelius?

  • MIR works with anything, but you would have to feed MIDI to it in the same way as you would a standalone. however, you would also need to use something like Total Recorder to record the audio output.

  • When I was using Vienna Suite & Ensemble, I just used a record tool in Sibelius and that worked perfectly. By the way, there were special Sibelius - Vienna Ensemble sound set things designed to make the whole thing easier. I'll try MIR tonight and see what happens.

Were you using VE as a standalone though?

😊 ... great. This is exactly what MIR was made for.

  • No, no error message,,it just froze when i moved one of the icons .

yeah i see the point in keeping it VSL only.

BUt nowdays, myself (and alot of other people) hardly stick to just VSL when doing mockups...so not having the option to open it all in MIR makes it much less attractive, for me at least. The MIR PRO will be even more expensive i assume?

This might be a dumb idea, but wouldnt it be a good thing to have a RECORD function in there, so you didnt have to route the outputs to some other app\computer in order to capture the end result?

Come to think of if...why dont you throw in a midi sequencer as well, hehe :D

And pehaps...the option to save individual "track presets", or instrument configurations? So one could quickly assemble a full mix from a empty stage, with all the plugins, positioning and other relevant settings saved with each instrument\section icon?

One question...it seems the erea you can move the different icons is dependent on the type of instrument?

Like, i cannot move the Violins all the way to the back if i want to? You can only move the different instruments around on a very small portion of the stage? or did i miss something?

Anyway...its very techincal...lol, ..some of the options and menus are waaaay above my competance and understanding .

But it does indeed sound wonderfull :D

  •  Hi Pzy Clone,

I think, if you can't move the icons, you have not loaded the Mozart Saal venue yet, and you are just fiddling around with the default startup venue, which only has one hot spot in the center.

  •  LOL, really?

I think i loaded the Venue as well, but ill give it another spin.

    thanx.

  • If you don't have activated the HOTSPOT button, you could do so.

The highlighted area will show where you can place an instrument.

In the Mozart Saal venue it's the stage and two areas on the balconies left and right.

If you drag an instrument icon outside of the highligted areas, it will jump back to it's initial position.

    best

    Herb

  • I can't start the engine. It keeps saying 'Starting the audio engine failed. Error message:No audio devices found'. When I go into 'select audio device' it is empty. I have speakers plugged in that work with everything else so I'm not sure what's going on. Or does it mean something else?

  • Does your audio device support ASIO?

  • I'm unsure, how do I find out? EDIT:I'm installing something like that now.

  • well...i hit the hotspot button...but there is no way i can get MIR to load more than one in the center.

Hitting the load venue button displays the default trial room, but there are no more hotspots loaded after i hit ok.

    That cant be right?

  • offcourse.

  • Okay, it's working now!
