    Hello everybody,

please find new updates including changelogs for Vienna Instruments, Vienna Ensemble and Vienna Imperial in your USER AREA [:)]

    Most notable changes:

    • Threaded loading process in Vienna Instruments / Vienna Ensemble- multiple instances of Vienna Instruments can now load simultaneously, the GUI is not locked anymore in the loading process
    • OS X: the sluggish behaviour of the browser in Vienna Instruments / Vienna Ensemble is fixed
    • Vienna Ensemble: Added support for Vienna Imperial VST or AU instruments.
    • Vienna Imperial: ProTools sample rates other than 44.100 kHz supported

The previous versions of our software are still online, in case you encounter any troubles. Please let us know about your findings.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

I have just downlaoded and instaled VI/VE version 3710...

Its not working at all here ? (both Standalone and Plugins)

It scan licenses but no UI are brought....

Is there a Syncrosoft update to be done?

    I have v. 1.9.20.1

If yes, I have to say that I'm comfuse about where to find the update...

There is so many new product on Syncrosoft website that I can't find the proper link to update!

    Hope you can help me.

    Best to you

  • Hi Alain,

Syncrosoft dongle software is no more! Seems it has migrated to a new owner Elicenser - http://www.elicenser.net/en/latest_downloads.html  They have a software download page - the current version appears to be 1.9.20.1.

  •  did you reboot before installing and repaired permissions after install?

in case you had related processes running during installation OS X might have been not too happy about ...

  • Hello.

The update for VE3 and VI worked fine for me.  I just downloaded and installed, and VE3 is so much smoother and quicker than it ever has been.  I had already updated the LCC about 3 or so days ago, so mayber that makes the difference.  This time, I didn't even do the restarts, or anything else.  So far, so good.

I use a Mac Pro 2.66, 12 gig memory, and mostly Sibelius 6 right now.

  • Hi many thanks. All fine here but the "main"loading status (golden) completely removed ?

    Hi Christian,

I've noticed many times that you have given specific instructions about re-booting, permissions, etc before installing Vienna software.

However I must have installed hundreds of apps and updates across the years and have not really had a problem - most Apple stuff via software update, and third party stuff - just hit install.  and like most stuff Mac "it just works" Again I've not had any virus problems (ever) and any associated problems disappeared as soon as Norton was un-installed.

I often wonder if the problems people encounter are caused by corrupted systems or rogue 3rd party apps/drivers as generally my experience is the Apple mantra - it just works.... hope I don't regret saying this!

  • i can hear what you are saying - but the prove is easy: update your system using software update or update logic and then run disk utility - you will be astonished how many permissions have to be repaired.

reason for the request to reboot - OS X is a UNIX-like system (so to speak an evolution of MACH 3, BSD and NEXT) and these kind of operating systems have a specific behaviour:

if you install some new code when the older version of this code is currently loaded, the OS keeps the older code in memory when the newer code is written to the system volume.

not killing such a process now results in old code (from memory) probably accessing new code (now loaded from file system) and the confusion is perfect ...

this is something every *NIX administrator knows very well but obviously is considered to be too complicatet for the user ... so my simple advice is: reboot the computer before installing or updating something and repair permissions after doing so.

your system will thank you ... christian

  • All good advice, I guess a lot of people want a simple software/hardware experience and keeping stuff simple (i.e. just reboot before install) is easy to follow. I was just wanting to put the view that my experience of the Mac/VSL experience is one of general reliability and ease of use (except Logic loading the RAM twice for 96k projects - but that's another story!) so people shouldn't be too put off by stories of "permissions" and installation problems.

  • CM,

    Thanks for answering...

    So,

I have removed both VI and VE using VI/VE Uninstaler...

    -Reboot the system

    -installed both VI/VE

    -repair permissions...

    I did that 3 times...

    ITS NOT WORKING ???

The Start Up routine is looking good until the time that VI/VE's UI is supposed to be brought !

    Both unexpectedly quit...

I'm sad, I would like use version 3710...

    Hope you might help me!

    Best...

PS I would like thanks Julian and say that I agree with his comment...

  • looking through your emails to support i'm under the impression you're using cubase and/or DP ... which version (4?) and which OS version do you run? is it still the G5?

are you referring to the stand-alone or the plugin VI/VE in your post above and which audio card is in use (does it also occur with internal audio)?

we might need to go through a clean uninstall process and i'll ask marnix from our Mac support to step in.

    -VSL SE ext. SE+ ext.

    External sound card:

    M-Audio, FireWire, Audiophile

Yes I'm waiting for Clean Uninstall Process...

  • Hello.

The new update for VE3 seems to be working well, except I can no longer see any of the effects I used to find under the 'Add Effects' menu, either in the Master Bus, or individual instruments.  I don't have the Vienna Effects, but I used to see the AU Apple things, and Bias and maybe some others.

I'm using a Mac Pro 2.66 with 12 gigs memory, and right now, Sibelius 6.  I have the latest LCC and have done the permissions rebuild.  I did not delete the previous version of VE3 or VI.  Is that the issue?  I may try that now :)

Same here. After the latest update, I've now lost access to all my plugs in ensemble. If I load a session up that had plugs in it, they come up in ensemble session, but if I try to add any others, it shows no plugs. I checked the prefs in the ensemble stand alone, and it doesn't show a plug folder anymore. This on Mac Intel 8 core, 10.4.11. Updated LLC, repaired permissions etc.

I think maybe you have a bug here.
