  • Pop / Click on first note

Hello there.  I'm using Vienna Symphony Special Edition as a plugin on an Auxillary track in ProTools 8.  I also have a Midi track whose output is set to Vienna.  These are the only 2 tracks in the session.  When I start playback, an audible pop / click can be heard when the first Midi note is played.  This is the only time I can hear a pop or click.  To me, it sounds like the connection to Vienna happans at the same time as the first note, and this is why you can hear it.  Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you resolve it?

Some more information for you:  I'm running Ptools 8 on a PC Audio Labs machine running Windows XP.  This computer has 4 gigs of RAM, and a 2.7 Ghz processor w/ Core 2 Duo chips.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Hi!

Are there a special reason why you use this kind of setup?

Have you tried inserting it on an instrument track, which also contains the MIDI-data?

I have never had problems that way at least...

If, however, for some reason you MUST use an auxilliry-track and a MIDI-track - make sure you set it up correctly in the environment window. Strange things happen in Logic 8 because the SUM MIDI-input (all inputs) are sent to the sequencer input. So I would remove this cable and see if that fixes your problem. It's located under the sub-menu Clicks & Ports. Just mark the cable en remove it. Then make a new cable from your actual physical input to the GUI-keyboard.

If this is the case, your click might be the cause of double midi-data.

    Hope it helps! :)
