Hi there,
i try hard to get the VSL Intruments in PT Le 8 to work.
The Host loses connection to the audio interface (003 rack) when i fire up an instance of VI, or at least during playback (sounds awful, crackles and pops on any Buffersize).
I'm running it on an iMac (Intel,4gb ram,2.4 ghz dual core) and Mac OSX 10.5.6
Anyone else who got this problem?

just a shot into the blue: you have the sample content on an external FW drive and now traffic on the cable collides?
not highly recommended, but double check having the disk connected over USB - if the issue disappears it is a protocol or driver problem (firewire or digi)

I do have an external FW Harddrive. It's connected to the FW800 Port , the digidesign Interface on the other hand is connected to the FW400 Port of the iMac. So i have two Ports and two Cables in use. I'm not quite certainif these two ports work 100% independently.
So i will doublecheck that with the usb connection.
But, the funny thing is, that everything works fine with Cubase Studio 4 on the same machine and same configuration ect. And commonly i use to fire up Cubase for my orchestration stuff, but now i wanted to "pepp up" a band recording with some strings directly in the ProTools Session... [:D]
Of course i could work around this problem for now by using both Sequencers, but it's uh... you know... inconvinient. [*-)]

Okay, i found a way that seems to help me out.
Just downloaded the Vienna Ensemble 2 software from your website and inserted it as an RTAS Plugin instead of the VI RTAS Plugins in my session.
Problems like drescribed above did not occour so far and the best thing about it: i am able to record some tracks with this combination.

if VE works that's a step forward ... PT talks RTAS whereas cubase talks VST, so there might be a difference how the audio interface is accessed ....
AFAIK [:)] the 800 and 400 port goes to the same controller on the iMac ..
