DAW configuration in PC 64
Hi! I´m new to this forum and VSL-products, just ordered my first librarys. But I´ve been working o couple of years proffessional with East West symfonic orc. and other big samle-librarys form making music for and film and stage-plays. Now I have to bay a new DAW, and need pleny of RAM, so i have to go to a 64-bit environment. Mostly I use Cubase 5 for my host appl. and sometimes Finale. Steinberg doesn´t have solved 64 for mac for the time beeing, so i thinking of stick to PC. Now I´m woundering what You other people have for DAW´s (soft- and hardware) out there who´s working as a clock, even with very big (VSL)arrangements. And systems that you don´t have do bounce or "freeze" all the time, when you put in the next instrument... Have searched this forum, and couldn´t find any specific threads about this. Probably just missed it... Could someone help me to find useful info about this matter? Regards Martin, Soundbeam produktion, SWEDEN

Regards Martin, Soundbeam produktion, SWEDENMy template (within Nuendo 4) is currently around 17GB and I often work to a deadline. I can play most of my projects at a soundcard buffer of 256, but 128 is a problem. However, once I have programmed all the notes, I can do tweaks at a higher buffer, so it is not a deal breaker. Let me know some specific questions, and I'll try to answer as best I can.

Hi DG, and thaks for reply Heres´s some questions: 1. Besides different RAM-limitations, is one of the 3 Vista64 (premium, ultimate and buissness) better, if You work with samplebased music? 2. How much RAM should You have to run Vienna properly? (On "East West" they recomend 8Gg for their librarys) 3. Is there are compability-problem with UAD2 and VISTA64? 4. Is it better to split up Vienna librarys on different dedicated HD´s, for ex, strings on one drive, brass on the second...? 5. Any real difference in preformance (streaming) between 7200 SATA2-hd´s and Velociraptors 10000speed for this librarys? Regards Martin

Hallo!
I am working with Cubase 4 (32bit), Uad 2,Uad 1, VSL (which is a 64 bit application), 8gig Ram and xp64
It all works nicely! All the Ram is accesible to Vsl
Below are some links that I collected, when I set up my system in Oct 2008:

Hello,
I would like to chip in with a (beginner) question or rather I want to clarify something.
I want to use more than 4gb ram. I have the 64 bit version of Windows Vista and want to use VE (64bit) within a sequencer.Do I need a 64 bit compatible sequencer/software to use the whole (e.g. 8gb) ram with VE?? Or can I use a 32 bit software?

You can use a 32bit sequencer like cubase with Vista 64 or xp 64 and use all available ram with Vienna Ensemble.
