    Hi,

    I used to have a great working Special Edition on Protools 7.4/ Tiger. For some reason, I upgraded to Leopard/PT 7.4.2. Now Vienna instrument does work anymore. Protools goes "you're running out of CPU" after 5 seconds of midi recording or playback.

    Thge wierd thig is that whan I open old sessions made on the previous system with 10 or 12 Vienna intruments in them, they read whitout a problem.

    But when I create a new intrument track and try to play even 1 vienna intrument, It crashes.

    Than I work by emptiing copies of existing sessions with Vienna instrument in them, but it's a kind of a pain in the butt.

    you don't have by chance an image of the original tiger system?

     

    my experience is that installing a system from scratch gives always less troubles than upgrading, though in advance it seems to be less work to upgrade than to install everything from bottom up again ...

     

    maybe at least try to run a permission repair on your system volume (disk utility) ... maybe it helps ... also look out for plugins and drivers possibly incompatible with 10.5 (AU specs have changed)

    Too Bad I can't find the Tiger install DVD. I reinstalled everything clean with Leo. What drives me crazy is that it works perfectly with the old sessions.

    May I add : when I create an empty session with only 1 VI with NO SOUND loaded in it, the mac runs out of CPU when playing.

    could you please also add the infomation about

    - machine specs and version of operating system

    - audio device and driver version

    - if the system is fresh installed or upgraded (from tiger)

    edit: since this appears to be rather a technical issue of the system rather than VI related i'm moving the thread to *general discussion*

    Thanx for helping. - Power mac G5 2x2GHz with 4,5Go of RAM - ProTools 7.4.2 cs2, Mac OS 10.5.6 (I tried with 10.5.5 too) frshly installed from sctraches on a brain new hard drive. The sample banls are on another internal drive. - Digi 002 . I of course downloaded the latest VI version.

    Am I the only one that can't use VSL with ProTools 7.4.2 ?
