  • VE 2 still not working. What to do??

    Hello,

I just downloaded the latest version of VE 2 on my Mac Quad G5 OSX 10.4.11. I want to use it as a plug-in in Logic 8 (latest version). Before installing it, I first removed the old version of VE (which did not work at all) by deleting all the files (there is a post on the forum somewhere where Maya from VSL gives exact details of which files to delete).

After emptying the trash, restarting and repairing permissions I installed the new VE.

I get exactly the same problems that I had with the older version of VE: the VE services window appears with no active instances in it.

Spinning beachball. After a while a second window appears, telling me that VE is not be connected. Spinning beachball, no luck.

I tried it with Logic 7. Same problems. I ran Logic's AU manager which tells me VE is instanciated. Spinning beachball. Force quit everything.

    End.

This is so frustrating. I bought the entire Symphonic Cube for a lot of money and I want to be able to use the library without these strange problems.

By the way: I use VE (the old version) as a stand alone on my other G5, and there is no problem, everything works fine.

    What to do.

(I am no computer cowboy, so I don't understand tech-speak).

    Greetings,

    Gerard

  •  Hi Gerard,

I can see in my records that you spread your Vienna Instruments licenses over two Syncrosoft keys (by the way, you registered only one of them with us!)

Have you tried plugging both keys to your G5 Quad, just to rule out licensing problems?

    Best, Marnix

  • Hello Marnix,

I'll try that. Although I have the feeling things go wrong before that.

I did not know I had just 1 key registered with VSL. I will check which one is not registered and do it right away.

    Greetings,

    Gerard

  • Where do I register the keys?

    Here! [;)]

  • Hello Marnix,

I just registered the other key. Okay, I think there cannot be a problem with the licenses as I can load the separate Vienna Instruments and see that their licenses are recognized.

The other key is on another computer on which VE is installed as stand alone. There is no problem with this.

On both computers the License control center is installed and the keys and collections are recognized on both.

    Or am I wrong?

    Greetings,

    Gerard

  •  OK, so the licenses seem to be all recognized.

Can you in fact launch VE2 as standalone on the Quad?

    Best, Marnix

  • Hello Marnix,

Yes I can start VE2 as standalone on the Quad.

    Gerard

  • So it appears to be more of a Logic validation issue...

Please launch the AU Manager, uncheck and then check again the entry for Vienna Ensemble - does it validate allright (please be patient, this can take quite some time!)?

    Best, Marnix

  • Hi Marnix,

Where can I find the AU manager in Logic 8?

I found it in Logic 7 but not in 8.

    Greetings,

    Gerard

  • Sorry Marnix,

I found the AU manager. I tried the validation like you wrote.

I unchecked the validated box. It is still scanning, but I get a window that says: Unable to create Server Object. The server application might be already running, or the requested network port is not available.

I can click OK. After that the validation proces continues and after a while it is finished and VE is validated.

But... when I want to run the plug-in in Logic 8 it gives the same problems as before: window with no active instances that I can only exit.

Then another window that says that VE service is not connected.

    Greetings,

    Gerard

  • It´s under Logic Pro/Preferences/Audio Units Manager...

    Best, Marnix

  •  Oh, do you click on "Exit" before the actual Plugin window appears?

Please let the little window opened in the background at all times if you work with VE2!!!

    Best, Marnix

  • No sorry,

When opening the plug in Logic 8 the little window is still open, after a while the other window opens telling me that VE service is not connected.

The validation seems to have gone ok. There is also a log window that opens telling me that VE has Passed validation.

    Still: nothing works!

    Greetings,

    Gerard
