  • Cannot Register Steinberg Key

    Hi,

I have just registered my Vienna key. I also have a Steinberg SX3/4 keywhich I was advised to register also. However, when I try to do this I get this error message:

"(8) The first group has to be numeric"

The second character of my Steiny key is the letter 'C'. It's definately a 'C' - no mistaking that! The rest are all numbers. I'm guessing the letter is causing the registration software to freak out since clearly it is Letterphobic! [;)]

I would like to transfer the VI licence onto the Steiny key and just use that one - since they appear to be the same make (Syncrosoft?).

How do I get around this problem?

    Please help.

    Thanks,

    Darren

  • By the way, this is the number on the key itself. Is that the correct number to register, or is there a different number I should be entering?

  • Hi,

It's OK now. For some reason, the number on my Steiny key is different to the number listed in the LCC. I just used the LCC number and now it's registered.

Does it matter if you type the whole number in (as I've done), rather than just the first 6 digits?

  • hi mobius, glad to hear you could solve the issue, i also noticed lately that on some steinberg keys the printed number contains characters, so we probably need to change the explaining text.

    thx for reporting back, christian
