Hello,
I'm thinking of purchasing VSL appassionata strings 1 standard edition but I still have some doubts 😄
Some
demos sound pretty convincing ( the simon ravn, martijn spruit one ) ,
while some others seem rather synthy ( appassionata strings
articulation demo by beat kaufman for example, sorry Beat 😉 I think
you've done much better demos ! 😉 )

Hello Romain
What is a good demo? I always try to take as little effects as possible for the demos for VSL.
Maybe the reverb (Altiverb, Vienna Konzerthas Large Hall) was no great shakes for the articulation demo.
What ever...
I can offer another version of the articulation demo with another reverb
http://www.beat-kaufmann.com/Appassionata_Strings_1_Articulations_VI08.mp3
and specially for you the same piece without any effect!!! (beside the pannings)
(try to take your favorite reverb and EQ-preset)

Here are some other Appassionata1-Demos

(another version than in the Articulation-Demo > I tried to simulate Mantovani's style > melting violins)

(Easy Listening)

(John Williams)
and specially for you an excerpt of the strings

(incl. a Synthy[:)] - Bass)
More Appassionata-Demos?
As Paul mentioned above...
There is a demo in the pipeline which shows all four string libraries (solo, chamber,
orchestra, appassionata) in the same piece - same effects, same room, same mastering.
So even if you feel the mix and the effects synthy: Nevertheless, they will be used for all
strings and you can compare them anyway. It should be a help to select the string library
which could be the best for your tasks...
Be a little patient...
All the best
Beat Kaufmann
