  • Dongle not responding

Hoping someone can help.... my dongle is not responding, and is not visible in LCC. It's a semitransparent blue colour, the same as my Protools HDpack dongle, which has a green LED. I'm not getting any light on my VSL library dongle, even after changing USB ports - is it dead? Is so, what next? Look forward to a response. Andrew

    welcome andrew,

sorry to hear about your troubles but just to make sure: AFAIK ProTools is using iLok which looks different to a syncrosoft eLicenser - we are talking about such a device:

please make sure there is no other device on your USB port which is eg. using too much power and see if the USB port as such works with other devices.

it seems you are located in australia so please get another key (eg. from our distributor sonic virtual media) and we will help you out with a temporary license until everything else is clear ... contact support@vsl.co.at for detailed proceeding

  • Thanks for your response, Christian. And thanks for welcoming me to the community as well. I'm thrilled to join the vsl community at last, although I would have enjoyed an easier introduction to the forums rather than the blind panic I was in this morning! You are right about the dongle. I had identified the wrong one in my message. The correct dongle still didn't work though. The problem turned out to be created by the addition of 8G of RAM. As soon as the RAM was removed, the dongle and it's licenses reappeared. Similarly, Bluetooth reappeared. I'm currently debating with the shop that sold me the RAM, who swear that it is correct for my Quad G5, and are going through the verification of each module as we speak.

  • thanks for keeping us up to date - yes, RAM incompatibilies are sometimes causing strange effects. hope you can sort this out ...
