  • Vienna products sample rate/bit rate

What is the current sample rate/bit rate of Vienna products?

    Salim

  • Welcome Salim,

    Thanks for your interest!

All our samples are recorded in 96 kHz / 24 bit, stored and edited in 96 kHz / 32 bit Floating Point, and are converted to the release format (today this is 44.1 kHz / 24 bit) during the last step in the production cycle, prior to the mapping for the Vienna Instrument. The conversion is done on behalf of a proprietary sampling rate converter which was developed especially for our needs and quality standards. - The data is compressed (NOT reduced) to a proprietary format that allows for unpacking the sample data from the disk in real-time.

Earlier, now discontinued product ranges (First/Pro Edition, Horizon) were released in uncompressed 44.1 kHz /16 bit formats.

  • Hi Dietz, Out of interest are all the loops and tunings (though I doubt if this is necessary!) converted across during sample rate conversion or do you have to edit these in the delivery sample/bit rate format? thanks Julian

  • In most cases, the converter is able to take care for this automatically, on behalf of some clever functions implemented especially for this task.
